ToraeGilt Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 Speaking of Nile rogers.. I remembered when the writing and sampling credits were released and the base had a meltdown
SashaDevachelli Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 I really hope no one actually called off work for this friday- do NOT let this grandma stop your bag guys, boycott this puta

BMS was smart in the long run. Obvs all other tracks would’ve smashed harder but I think they really wanted to start off safe.
BGKC Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 Cozy is top 3 on the album after Virgos Groove & AHAP. Heated is the one track that took a minute to grow on me. Sonically it was just too much of a drake song for me, but it slowly made its way into my top 5. It has the most potential as the third single imo (if we ever get to that point ). Alien Superstar lost its grip on me. It originally stood out the most to me as one of the most avant-grade songs of her career, but I quickly got over it. The structure of it feels like a pretentious lecture accompanied with a glorious chorus that comes out of left field. The real ones know Cozy is the superior confidence booster.
Lose My Breath Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 Heated was the track I was LEAST excited about, after listening to that tired ass Demo, and seeing Drakes name on it, BUT it was the first to really hit me hard, and is my favorite song on the album, still. Cuff It and Alien were the two immediate tracks for me though Pure was the most mind blowing to me, followed by AUIYM and Cozy. The production on these are the most risky IMO, and are all complete standouts.

Space&Time Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 Cuff It is THAT girl. I can’t wait to do the challenge with my cousins over thanksgiving dinner.
Space&Time Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 Didn’t some one say Beyoncé was performing on SNL this season?
tachiwaka Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 I’ve had to warm up to Cuff It ? Disco is timeless but it can also be a bit generic, and Cuff read generic for me the first week or so. Same with Get Lucky and Levitating. It took some time to appreciate how everything after the second verse modernizes it. But HEATED?! Instant favorite, it’s a classic, it can be an ironic winter single. I do NOT want a Drake remix unless he matches her key, does the first verse, and leaves the rest of the song as is.
Daydream Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 Speaking of Drake. The way his album is completely forgagotten and Bey's is still being discussed. Maybe he should've made a few Heateds for himself.

It's very generic, especially on an album like RENAISSANCE. COZY, ALIEN SUPERSTAR, MOVE, PLASTIC OFF THE SOFA, PURE/HONEY, SUMMER RENAISSANCE, VIRGOS GROOVE, AMERICA HAS A PROBLEM. Everything feels so experimental and obscure, and then....there's CUFF IT. Makes sense why it's as successful as it is though

Virgos Groove Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 I feel like we don't discuss this enough. Top-2 on the album frfr
CoralBlue Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 If they choose a 3rd single then I also think it should be Heated. It's a fan favourite after Cuff It & Alien Superstar.

Planet Mars Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 I think PLASTIC OFF THE SOFA would be the best 3rd single. It's a ballad and definitely shifts the mood of the era. It also has the best video (in my mind). SUMMER RENAISSANCE should be the final single though.

giRLbye. Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 (edited) Beyonce does the throwback funk/disco sound better than anyone IMO...she could've lived & existed as a diva in that era for real. she's been sprinkling this sound throughout her entire career while others have had career defining hits with this sound. so i'm glad its her turn. i view this "Cuff It" success as restitution for all of the Work It Out, Blow, Schoolin' Life, Why Don't You Love Me, Suga Mama moments that got overlooked Edited October 8, 2022 by giRLbye.
