Yall also anticipated PMM and Santo to be hits and LF to go top 30 on the BB200. If I were you, I would lower my expectations to save myself from future embarrassments like this thread but you do you.

Despite not charting, Like I Do and Fall in Line got Grammy noms for vocal performance (something your fav will never win…maybe she’ll go viral for singing like a hyena in her bathroom tho) so why is it so hard to believe La Fuerza can’t do the same

It's funny because it's not just Christina stans, Selena Gomez stans also tried this **** and so on. Whenever an american pop girl release a spanish project, western stans go hard with the "she's just reconnecting with her latina heritage and culture!" narrative to shield their faves from criticism and I'm always thinking about WHAT exactly are they supposed to "reconnect" with. :rip:

Christina is a white american woman who lived in the US her entire life and she just dropped a reggaeton single with Ozuna. Reggaeton is a genre that was heavily influeced by the afro-puerto rican scene going on in the slums of San Juan. Like, what is even there for Christina to "claim" or "reconnect" from reggaeton? I genuinely like Christina and don't see any harm in her exploring that sound, but some stans really need to stop act so pretentious and just deal with the fact that she's clearly chasing a trend/experimenting with a very popular sound.

You can tell these stans have no idea of how diverse Latin America is and they think that someone having a great-grandparent from some random hispanic country automatically makes any of these girls culturally connected to literally every single cultural scene going on in the entire region. Meanwhile, I was born and raised in Latam and I'd never dare to claim some of the many musical genres from my own country as part of "my culture" simply because I have zero connection to the region or ethnic group that runs it and I respect that.

Stop gatekeeping how people reconnect or feel close to their ethnicity/heritage. I’m Chinese and I was born in the US. I don’t speak a lick of Korean but I enjoy kpop because it makes me feel connected to my Asian side. Lots of Asian people do this. Should I stop and only listen to mandopop  because I’m not actually Korean?

Does a passion project Spanish EP charting make a difference when you can book gigs like these?

this is NOT a big gig :rip:

Oh? I’m sure she made more from this gig than what you make in an entire year but okay. Not everyone gets to be hired by big corporations like Disney

Not good enough? How about the two night LA philharmonic concert attended by A lister and fan Ariana Grande?

but just so we’re not off topic, these little non charting songs managed to help book a performance at Latin music’s biggest night, the Latin Grammys.

we wanna keep going?

Serves her right for releasing that shitty reggaeton music.

Then name one who did, with absolutely NO physicals.

Christina's like the first (or one of the very few) out of the 90s/00s acts to release an EP without any physicals accompanying it.

Edit: Wait I forgot Eminem, just ignore everything I said

Literally Mariah’s album of 30 year old B-sides had enough streaming to chart (6.2k) :rip:

One is a US act, one isn't. Billboard is a US chart company.

Mariah is the queen of everything, so I'm not surprised.

It's a digital Spanish ep with no physical copies.. Its also the 1st of 3. She also hasn't put out a Spanish record like this in over 2 decades. And the Billboard 200 is only the US

Y'all will take every opportunity to drag Xtina.

I'm gonna enjoy the music and wait for when the entire album is released with physical copies.

Spanish EP's rarely chart. That's what you don't understand. Even Maluma's EP didn't chart and he's huge in Spanish music.

But Selena’s Revelación charted with 23K and so did Kali Uchi’s latest project.

It is disappointing that it did virtually nothing for Christina but not having physical copies definitely affected her. I don’t think they thought or care about it’s chart performance in the first place. Hopefully the two other EPs will go as planned and this won’t jeopardise the future releases.

All of his recent albums charted on BB200, his EP didn't...

The physical/digital copies accounted for 14k. She had 6.2k alone from streaming. And can we stop with this promo stuff? Three singles/three videos, live performances etc. There’s been plenty of promo.

Promo where? Not in US. Nobody in US knows she released anything. Once again Mariah had 15 tracks vs 6. English tracks at that.

Edit: Actually Mariah had 32 tracks vs Christina's 6. :rip:

The Rarities - 24,973,873 (32 tracks released in 2020)

La Fuerza - 27,251,024

Missy Elliot Iconology EP (2019)

14:49 Length

5 tracks

24 on Billboard 200

Surprise release, no physical sales

Not the Mariah/Britney fans still fighting.

I mean a 6 EP spanish language tracks with NO PHYSICAL release and they expect to compete with full albums with english tracks with cd, vinyl and cassetes released. Truly worms for brains.

Even Selena Gomez who is fully embraced by Gen Z debuted with ~20k, Baila Conmigo was a hit and she released cd's and vinyls with multiple covers and even a Target edition.
