2021: First year since 1999 with a Top 3 Female Selling Songs in the US

Green

Recommended Posts

2021 was the first year since 1999 that the Top 3 best selling/consumed songs in the US were by females (as lead credited artists):

Remember that since 2016 Nielsen is using SPS for their Top Digital Song Consumption chart

These are the top 3 selling songs each year since 1992 in the US based on their Consumption during those years (2001-2004 was a tragic time for singles sales so that's why the Billboard Hot 100 was based mostly on radio during those years until digital sales took over in 2005).

1992-2003 (Physical Sales)

2004-2005 (Physical & Digital Sales)

2006-2015 (Digital Sales)

2016-2019 (Digital Song Consumption: Song sales + On-Demand Audio SES units)

2020-201 (Digital Song Consumption: Song sales + On-Demand Audio & Video SES units)

those were rough years for the girls indeed.

OT: Thats great!! Though i will say 1999 may hold more weight achievement-wise since it was three separate lead artists but a successful year nonetheless.
