Digital Bulk Rule Adjustment

The most notable change related to consumer purchases is the adjustment to rules around multiple or bulk digital purchases and their charting eligibility. Currently, 1 - 4 “unit” (album or single) purchases by one customer are counted, while 5 - 9 unit purchases are reverted to a max of 4 eligible sales. 10 or purchases by the same customer are dismissed.

Beginning with the tracking week of Dec. 31, 2021, through Jan. 6, 2022:

- 1 unit purchase will be counted

- 2 or more units purchased by a customer will not be counted.

The policy will not change for physical UPC sales as bulk will continue to be applied using the current standards noted above

They wimped out not doing it for physical too or at least lowering it to 2. Ain't nobody buying a physical single for themselves and 3 friends. :toofunny2:

They should do it for physical CDs and Vinyl too. There is as much manipulation there as there was in the singles chart digitally.

Its a half assed rule change, as usual.

It's Billboard, do you really expected a change to be full assed? :toofunny2:

they count AIRPLAY yet they're worried about bulk purchases? :lmao:

THIS. A billion times this. That Måneskin song spent months making less streams than My Universe in the US but charted higher because of airplay and no one said sh*t :oxygen2:

BTS aren’t gonna stop getting #1s :dies:

They have enough fans that 1 sale per person won’t affect their debuts.

If anything its just gonna hurt their longevity.  Definitely no more 10 week #1s unless they could combat this with more remixes (:skull:)  & their radioplay has been solid lately.
