Based on the update Billboard gave of Selena's most streamed songs in the US:

Taki Taki:

- 904 million US streams: 6 million units + pure sales (200k guesstimate) = 6x Platinum

WDTA:

- 883 million US streams: 5.8 million units + pure sales (850k guesstimate) = 6x Platinum and really close to 7x Platinum

Wolves:

- 677 million US streams: 4.5 million units + pure sales (350k guesstimate) = 4x Platinum and really close to 5x Platinum

It Ain't Me:

- 669 million US streams: 4.4 million units + pure sales (830k guesstimate) = 5x Platinum

LYTLM:

- 564 million US streams: 3.7 million units + pure sales (260k guesstimate) = 4x Platinum

GFY:

- 544 million US streams: 3.6 million units + pure sales (1.7m guesstimate) = 5x Platinum

BTY:

- 496 million US streams: 3.3 million units + pure sales (400k guesstimate) = 3x Platinum and really close to 4x Platinum

SOL:

- 470 million US streams: 3.1 million units + pure sales (1.5m guesstimate) = 4x Platinum and close to 5x Platinum

HTM:

- 438 million US streams: 2.9 million units + pure sales (1.2m guesstimate) = 4x Platinum

THWWIW:

- 384 million US streams: 2.5 million units + pure sales (1.5m guesstimate) = 4x Platinum

I know the streams depending on when the song was released are like counted using a different ratio or whatever so this probably is inaccurate and that the pure sales are maybe a bit off but I think we can have an idea of what her certifications may look like in the US.

My question is if LYLALS is not included in this because they didn't put any song with The Scene or because all her songs from that time have been streamed less than 384 million times in the US.

thanks for bringing it here, it's a good update

My question is if LYLALS is not included in this because they didn't put any song with The Scene or because all her songs from that time have been streamed less than 384 million times in the US.

I am very confused about these numbers.

In January 2020 Billboard stated that The Heart Wants What it Wants had 104 million on demand streams, but in July 2022 they said that it had 384 million streams instead. Did it gain 280 million streams in just under 2.5 years? That seems like a huge amount to. All of her other streaming figures showed a similarly inexplicable jump between January 2020 and July 2022, and my only guess is that the 2022 figures include video streams too while the 2020 ones don't.

The RIAA apparently counts them equally so I guess your RIAA estimates are fairly accurate and they do seem to reflect the songs' popularity, but I'm still a little baffled as to why Billboard would list such vastly different figures over such a short period of time.

I am guessing the reason why LYLAS and the other songs by The Scene weren't listed was because they aren't solo Selena songs, because I think that it would definitely have more US streams than THWIW considering when LYLAS was gaining most of its early streams the group was still fairly US-based.  If I had to take a guess, I'd say it is at 575 million OD streams in the US. With 2.8 million pure sales to add to that, it's more or less accurate to say it's at around 6.6 million units in the US. 7 million units should be possible by the end of 2023, and so I think she'll go from having 0 songs over 7 times platinum to having 3 songs above that milestone in a year from now.

I think Billboard just reported wrong numbers cause I remember when the 2020 update came out, some numbers didn’t make sense like the ones for Hands to Myself. Some streams were suspiciously low

Hi, Selena's first reported streams were only on demand audio streams. The new reports include video streams, and are completely updated, Selena has grown a lot on Spotify and other platforms.

A strongly consistent catalog, it's a shame how she wastes the singles in her discography
