SZA is 100% muslim identifying. It's not like the Dua situation where it is ambiguous / more so about her family being muslim and not her etc...

SZA would be the first muslim identifying woman to top billboard which is a pretty cool record i guess!

Thanks for the info! I could have sworn she does identify as Muslim, but then when writing my post i couldn't for the life of me find any links besides SZA talking about her childhood.

no problem! It was actually you who inspired me to check out if there were other mainstream female artists who identify as muslims a couple weeks ago and I stumbled upon SZA. At first I thought the same that u did too! I didnt know she still identifies as muslim and thought it was more like a childhood thing but nope. Turns out she is actually practicing and spiritual! Hope she inspires many little Muslim American girls out there to feel more comfortable with themselves and maybe pursue their dreams in entertainment!

yeah but he is a male artist. there have already been a number of Muslim male artists who topped billboard before I think. And I also remember him saying he no longer identifies as muslim a couple years back. Though he said he respects the faith and is happy he grew up practicing it.

Technically he's not. He said his parents gave him the option to make his own decisions, so leaving the religion was not a difficult process.
