Best song released this year. An instant classique. But to be honest could Doja and SZA’s godly combination give us a bad song, didn’t think so

I think it’s a smart lead single choice. It’s got a “vibey” summer feel that translates well to streaming and it’s similar sound to Say So will please the people that know her mostly from that. Its kinda safe, but that’s a good thing for an artist that isn’t fully established yet. HP had a huge diversity in sounds, so it’s not like the whole Planet Her album will sound like this.

Pick a safe lead single (and maybe 2nd single) and let the GP/TikTok decide the follow up singles when the album comes out. Seems like a good strategy, since that’s what ended up working with the last era

I agree.  When you get over having an expectation for wanting some galactic space bop anthem for planet her, this choice makes sense and its such a BOP.  I think you are right, SAY SO fans will like this.  TBH honest, she could make an album full of Say So's and the **** would be hot.

It's like a retro funk/pop sounds.  It's like Cardigan's love fool mixed with Janet Jackson.  It's a winning sound!  Every major star has one.

Exactly, yesss.  That’s the vibe I’m getting.

I think it has “Say So” formula, but doesn’t really SOUND like it imo.   I think maybe that’s what people are trying to say, because sonically it’s not really giving SS at all lol.

Such a great choice for a lead single. Want this to be a hit because both artists deserve it :WAP:

I’m obsessed. Doja does this Pop sound so well

And SZA sounds amazing too :jonny4:Wish her parts of the song were longer

it's kinda generic but it fits the summer vibe very well, if it doesn't smash, i'll be surprised.

Tbh I expected more from the lead to Planet HER. This is a super cute song, but I know Doja is capable of more.

I'm worried that she's gonna go super commercial with this album, but I'll wait to actually hear it lol.

I don't understand anyone who's saying this song is bland and generic. The main concern you could have is how similar it sounds to Say So, but everything else about this song is absolutely exceptional: from the immaculate melody, to the chill production, to the smooth delivery of their vocals, to the nu-disco/city-pop/90s indie influences.

It's a beautiful pop track that's even richer in so many aspects than Say So, even less "mainstream" if you ask me. If each song on the radio would sound like this, the world would be a way better place. Is it predictable coming from her? Yes. Is it bland or generic? Quite the opposite.

Yes. I just think people got ambitious in their expectations from Doja. She’s served such versatility it’s not surprising.

I agree this is such a nice listen, once you figure out what they’re saying. I do wish it had some type of bridge bringing them together in the song though.

The amount of criticism :rip: This is a perfectly executed pop song, and a lead single. At the very least it is not any surprise as to why they chose this to start the era, it will be a massive hit.
