German Charts including airplay since Dec 4th 2020

The BVMI (german riaa basically) decided to start counting airplay for the german single charts. They started doing so on December 4th 2020.

Til then we had the perfect chart, a revenue based one with prices for a single called at 4 euros and an album capped at 40 euros.

This is such a dumb decision and I'm an ava max stan, who's basically always on the radio :skull:

The way many germans including me used to drag the riaa for being inaccurate for including airplay just to end up on a big fat boo boo the fool party. :bibliahh:

It was posted by the user who does the German charts update, congratulations to Germany for being one of the five countries in the world that count airplay in their chart I guess. :toofunny2: It would've made more sense in the first half of the 2000s when CD singles were declining big time, but now that singles move more units than ever it's absolutely pointless.

RIAA doesn't include airplay in its certifications, it's Billboard that does it for the charts. RIAA is to be dragged for having zero quality control and basically allowing spam sales/streams into their system, while in Germany (and most of Europe) there are harsh controls and non-genuine streams don't get counted. Germany does /200 for premium audio streams and /2000 for free ones, while RIAA does /150 for everything including video streams, which is beyond me as free and premium streams do not generate the same revenue. :deadbanana4:

Oh well should've known someone posted it already. They actually STOPPED counting radio in 2001 :skull: it's basically an invitation for chart fraud. I was wondering why kings and queens skyrocketed back to the top20 after Christmas but this explains it.

I'm pretty sure the bvmi doesn't count airplay either but they and the gfk decided it to be counted for the top100... a MESS! well I guess this means katja krasavice is a radio darling now since she was #1 this week :gaycat4:

jk ofc ffff

Anyways, perfectly fine chart was tarnished... I cant believe it it's such a setback.

Was it Katja the German girl I obsessively hate? I swear I'm convinced she, Loredana and Shirin David are the same person, I googled them and they even look nearly identical. :deadbanana4: As far as I know, no country in the world counts airplay in their certifications. Countries with SPS singles charts that also count airplay are: Belgium, Denmark (with little impact, but still), Iceland, Germany, and any country that uses Billboard charts in absence of national ones (US, Canada and Argentina). Do you have an idea where I can find BVMI's chart methodology so I can figure out how they calculate airplay points?

This is misunderstanding. Kings & Queens wasn't the only old song that miraculously skyrocketed on the charts. You had a bunch of other songs like Physical, Don't Start Now, Salt, I Gotta Feeling :rip: re-entering the chart, they all benefited from both NYE playlist and YEC chart countdowns, but only from the radio. This ain't the Hot 100, radio doesn't hold THAT much of a power. I remember the first chart that included radio, Sam Smith's Diamonds was in the 80's, while being #1 on radio. My Head & My Heart is #10 on radio and just debuted at #97 this week too. :michael:

"The aim of the Official German Top 100 Single Charts is to depict music usage in all its facets. Therefore, since December 2020, the points achieved in the Top 300 of the Official German Airplay Charts have been added to the Official German Top 100 Single Charts. The chart points resulting from the determination of the weekly airplay charts are added to the single charts as follows. The value of an airplay chart point is calculated from the average value of a broadcast minute multiplied by the average duration of the title. In contrast to other sources of music usage, the radio listener usually has no direct influence on which music is played on the radio. Therefore, when calculating the chart value for an airplay chart point above, this passivity of use is also taken into account in the formula. The Airplaychart points are taken into account according to the following calculation: Airplaychart points x value of an Airplaychart point in €. This value is checked every six months by the charter investigator and adjusted if necessary."

Oh oops

Thanks for that, seems like them including radio isn't that much of a big deal then. Surprised a #1 only translated to 80 something

Bye trap and hi pop. :celestial6:

wrong. they'll continue to dominate due to airplay counting only a very small percentage, thank god :celestial6:

Here for Capital Bra getting 40 #1's and Shirin David 10+ too

It makes sense with German rappers setting up those streaming mills that are on the edge of legality. If streaming payola gets counted, might as well count the radio payola.
