Spoiler

Janelle Monáe - Make Me Feel

It's cute. I only really cared about this for like two weeks when it came out.

Beyoncé - Formation

Cute for a throwback, kinda surprised it hasn't aged worse.

Tegan and Sara - Boyfriend

It's alright. Nothing special at all.

Beyoncé - XO

So overrated. It's totally fine, but it's not something I ever go out of my way to listen to.

Robyn - Dancing On My Own

This is unlistenable still, I'm so sorry.

Janet Jackson - No Sleeep

WOW. The classic. A sexy slow-burner.

Lana Del Rey - Venice Bitch

Where do I begin.......... arguably the best rock ballad of the '10s. The instrumental sections are actually orgasmic.

Solange - Don’t Touch My Hair

One of the more interesting tracks on A Seat at the Morgue. Very cute.

Blood Orange - Best to You

If you've heard one Blood Orange production, you've heard them all imo!!! It's fine, but not interesting at all.

Robyn - Honey

It's a great song ofc. But imagine how tired we are of it getting sent in games. Still a good choice and I ofc won't penalize because it's overplayed.

Lana Del Rey - The Greatest

OMGGGGGGGG. A topical masterpiece. Top to bottom perfection. Probably her best lyrics next to MAC.

Angel Olsen - Lark

Very epic and cute, but it's personally not one of my favorites on the album. I don't like how shouty the vocals are when the song builds up. It's still a great song, but it just doesn't JUMP out to me as a favorite on the album.

Janelle Monáe - Tightrope

A classique.

Lana Del Rey - Video Games

This took me literally years to appreciate. It really is epic and beautiful. I used to think it was so boring.

Kelela - Frontline

Classique. YUP.

Drake - Passionfruit

Very boring. He has better.

Janelle Monae - Make Me Feel - I love Janelle and this is a funky bop, I love the part at the end where the beat goes all crazy

Beyonce - Formation - A cultural moment, a bop, we love the Red Lobster promo

Tegan and Sara - Boyfriend - It's cute, it feels kind of tame compared to many songs here but I don't hate it.

Beyonce - XO - Very pretty, euphoric song

Robyn - Dancing On My Own - Tired, dated, overrated!! I used to love it though

Janet Jackson - No Sleep - No sleeep, yes pandering. I like this though, good modern Janet

Lana Del Rey - Venice Bitch - This is making me sleepy, it's pretty I guess

Solange - Don’t Touch My Hair - Beautiful song, love Solange :heart2:

Blood Orange - Best to You - idk this color but I liked this song much more than expected.

Robyn - Honey - Amazing song, one of my faves from Robyn

Lana Del Rey - The Greatest - Lyrically great, sonically bored me though sorry :'(

Angel Olsen - Lark - I didn't love this, a bit long and dreary, I did like the production in parts I guess, it was kind of scary tho.

Janelle Monae - Tightrope - Classic Janelle bop

Lana Del Rey - Video Games - A Lana song I know and a Lana song I can enjoy.

Kelela - Frontline - Talent!

Drake - Passionfruit - Cute and chill I guess, kind of dragged as it went on

JANELLE MONAE - MAKE ME FEEL

This has always been a good song, and I like the Prince influence, but I do think that MMF gets overshadowed by some other songs on Dirty Computer, and some other songs in this round.

BEYONCE - FORMATION

One of the most culturally significant songs of the 21st century. While it's not in my top 10 Bey songs, it's still a very strong track.

TEGAN AND SARA - BOYFRIEND

This is a bit too subdued and unremarkable for a high quality round like this, but the song is nowhere near bad.

BEYONCE - XO

Literally one of my top 5 Beyonce songs. Points were made various times. It makes me emotional ngl.

ROBYN - DANCING ON MY OWN

This track could benefit from being 30 seconds shorter, but it's acclaimed for a good reason.

JANET JACKSON - NO SLEEP

This is cute background noise but not much more.

LANA DEL REY - VENICE BITCH

There's no reason for this song to be this long, but the relevant parts of this track are basically flawless

SOLANGE - DON'T TOUCH MY HAIR

I'm not really as enamored with Solange as a lot of other people are. I think this song is nice, but it's not something I'd consider required listening.

BLOOD ORANGE - BEST TO YOU

I'm gonna revisit this later. I like the vibe of the song but I wish that it would hit harder. It has some interesting idiosyncrasies that I'm not sure I'm on board with yet.

ROBYN - HONEY

For some reason I never really was able to get into this album. This track is cute though.

LANA DEL REY - THE GREATEST

This track isn't even top 3 on this project, but it's still so amazing.

ANGEL OLSEN - LARK

I wasn't impressed by the first minute or so of this track, but when things picked up for the first time I kinda got into it. I'll revisit it later.

JANELLE MONAE - TIGHTROPE

The first Janelle Monae song I ever heard. I remember being obsessed with this song when it first came out. It still holds up well, even though she has better songs.

LANA DEL REY - VIDEO GAMES

This song (+ Radio) always take me back to when I was younger. I'll always love it.

KELELA - FRONTLINE

I've never really been a fan of this track. I'll revisit it later.

DRAKE - PASSIONFRUIT.

I don't really user singer drake like that. Do Not Disturb >>>>

very disappointed no one sent Soldier of Love :giraffe:

Spoiler

Janelle Monae - Make Me Feel

I really really like this. Love the beat especially.

Beyonce - Formation

This song really has the ugliest production I’ve ever heard in my life, and I will never change my mind about that idc

Tegan and Sara - Boyfriend

It’s very nice, kinda unremarkable in comparison to some of the other songs here.

Beyonce - XO

What a gorgeous song.

Robyn - Dancing On My Own

It’s quite cute, but it’s just not that good anymore, sorry.

Janet Jackson - No Sleeep

Well… :katie2:

Lana Del Rey - Venice Bitch

It’s good, but it’s the weakest Lana song here imo

Solange - Don’t Touch My Hair

This is good, should be around the middle for me.

Blood Orange - Best to You

Love this a lot, he’s such a great producer.

Robyn - Honey

Whewwww, the excellence!

Lana Del Rey - The Greatest

Very very great.

Angel Olsen - Lark

6 minutes of my life gone and for what?

Janelle Monae - Tightrope

Iconic, but a bit annoying tbh.

Lana Del Rey - Video Games

Still one of her best songs for me.

Kelela - Frontline

Mhm yup this queen!

Drake - Passionfruit

Interesting choice lmao.

Janelle Monae - Make Me Feel: Prince bop that slightly aged

Beyonce - FormationcTvIQIx.gif

Tegan and Sara - Boyfriend: I stan this album so I wish you luck

Beyonce - XO: One of her best I think

Robyn - Dancing On My Own: My fave song of all time yup but people will tank it sadly

Janet Jackson - No Sleep: This is nice but a little repetitive

Lana Del Rey - Venice Bitch: I used to hate this but it grew, an experience. The middle part with guitars is a little overdone tho

Solange - Don’t Touch My Hair: Not something I would particularly want to listen to again

Blood Orange - Best to You: What is this bop  Empress Of and Dev Hynes snapped

Robyn - Honey: It's the classic

Lana Del Rey - The Greatest: A classic source.gif

Angel Olsen - Lark: This is kinda terrible sorry

Janelle Monae - Tightrope: :katie2:

very delighted no one sent Soldier Of Love :giraffe:

Spoiler

Janelle Monae - Make Me Feel

I know Prince is fuming that he didn't get to make this song yeah..

big bop

Beyonce - Formation

a MOMENT. The minimalistic beats and the marching band sounds at the end is genius idc idc idc

Tegan and Sara - Boyfriend

It's.. ehm fine I guess? Very.. just there. The production is nice but it misses some character imo

Beyonce - XO

always thought it was inch resting that this got BNT from ST over so many better picks :rip:  It's a nice pop song tho, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't do a whole lot for me personally

Robyn - Dancing On My Own

Musical terrorism, both this and the cover by someone are absolutely horrendous songs

Janet Jackson - No Sleep

cute, it's very lowkey but it's nice. Idk where it will rank this round for me with so many strong songs, but it's a nice pick nevertheless

Lana Del Rey - Venice Bitch

One of the best songs of the 2010s. The instrumental here is amazing and Lana's lyricism here is great as well. The feelings of nostalgia here (and on so many other songs on NFR) are strong. Such a great track, Jack and Anal together kinda the best jack/artist combo out there idc idc

Solange - Don’t Touch My Hair

Incredible track and the contributions from Sampha here are amazing as well. Beautiful track

Blood Orange - Best to You

It's cute. I like the production but not a big fan of how their voices work together.

Robyn - Honey

For Robyn's standards this is fine, but in a round with so many great songs, I feel no connection to this sorry x

Lana Del Rey - The Greatest

AHHH her best! One of the most nostalgia inducing tracks ever. Beautiful vocal performance from Lana, beautiful instrumental and great lyricism. Masterpiece x

Angel Olsen - Lark

What a MOMENT, total rollercoaster of a 6 minutes. Excellent song

Janelle Monae - Tightrope

It's cute, I personally prefer MMF

Lana Del Rey - Video Games

very nice, I have stronger favs this round, but this is still a nice pick

Kelela - Frontline

big BOPPPPP

hgNR8nn.gif

Drake - Passionfruit

cute, Flake had a better option in Nice For What tho. This is a nice lil vibe-y song but it misses the oomph that NFW has, and this also drags a bit. I like it tho

Janelle Monae - Make Me Feel - Eh, on the overrated side. The whole Dirty Computer album aged like milk.

Beyonce - Formation - It made its mark culturally. With that said, I don't personally enjoy it as much as some of her other landmark singles but it's still fine.

Tegan and Sara - Boyfriend - One of the better songs this round actually :hey:

Beyonce - XO - Always thought this was unremarkable and borderline boring.

Robyn - Dancing On My Own - It's just OKAY. Shame Call Your Girlfriend was already used because it's def better than this.

Janet Jackson - No Sleep - I can vibe to this, mhm. :loud:

Lana Del Rey - Venice Bitch - I don't have the patience for this anymore but it has some moments I like it.

Solange - Don’t Touch My Hair - Better than Cranes In The Sky. I said what I said.

Blood Orange - Best to You - Would've preferred EVP from the album but I understand why this was chosen. Solid still.

Robyn - Honey - It's alright. Doesn't pack a lot of punch tho.

Lana Del Rey - The Greatest - These lana songs just aren't doing it for me anymore

Angel Olsen - Lark - Pass.

Janelle Monae - Tightrope - *thumbs up* One of her best songs~

Lana Del Rey - Video Games - I've never been attached to this so it's w/e for me.

Kelela - Frontline - The best opener of all time

Drake - Passionfruit - The first minute is not needed. Other than that, it's adequate enough.

Overall, P4Kcore is not excellent.

Janelle Monae - Make Me Feel

it's really good! love it

Beyonce - Formation

CPG I think, and I'm probably in the minority but it's just fine, overrated if you ask me

Tegan and Sara - Boyfriend

nice, the production is really cute

Beyonce - XO

love this song, although I prefer John Mayer's take. but really, a great song

Robyn - Dancing On My Own

yeah no, I prefer Calum's version :sorry:

Janet Jackson - No Sleep

dreamy, it's pretty

Lana Del Rey - Venice Bitch

her voice is soothing, but other than that it's a bit boring and too long

Solange - Don’t Touch My Hair

very chill, nice breezy song

Blood Orange - Best to You

it's cool

Robyn - Honey

Kinda prefer this a bit over DOMO, but that intro is something

Lana Del Rey - The Greatest

beautiful

Angel Olsen - Lark

I don't like it, sorry

Janelle Monae - Tightrope

I prefer the first Janelle song

Lana Del Rey - Video Games

oh a nice Lana song

Kelela - Frontline

I always see this girl being submitted to these games and I rarely like a song from her, this is not an instance

Drake - Passionfruit

one of the few Drake songs I like

Janelle Monae - Make Me Feel: I've always thought this was overrated, but what do I know my fave on the album is Americans! That being said it's fine I guess

Beyoncé - Formation: This gets better every time I listen. Not my favorite Beyoncé song ever but very good

Tegan and Sara - Boyfriend: Such a random BNT by P4K when they have way better songs. It's alright though, the chorus is just underwhelming

Beyoncé - XO: Amazing song :smitten:

Robyn - Dancing On My Own: Better than the cover at least

Janet Jackson - No Sleep: Definitely a grower and such a chill bop, thanks to @Auburnfor really getting me into it years later :jamming:

Lana Del Rey - Venice Bitch: Don't care for NFR outside of Doin' Time

Solange - Don’t Touch My Hair: Very nice

Blood Orange - Best to You: Empress Of usually serves a consistent 8/10 and this is no different

Robyn - Honey: Was better this time around but I still don't like this song or album at all

Lana Del Rey - The Greatest: Don't care for NFR outside of Doin' Time [2]

Angel Olsen - Lark: It's decent. I'm not super into her outside of a couple songs but this is on the better side of AM

Janelle Monae - Tightrope: The better Janelle choice! (But I wish someone sent Cold War)

Lana Del Rey - Video Games: Her best song this round. Missing this sound from her

Kelela - Frontline: Solid choice, a little long but no complaints otherwise

Drake - Passionfruit: I'm good thanks

Spoiler

Janelle Monae - Make Me Feel

It's... okay :skull: First let me just say this really did deserve to be her big solo hit but lets just hope for the next album.

The album was a dud to me and I never quite got into this but I do like the Prince inspiration and I think its a fun song.

Beyonce - Formation

Ahhh yes!!! This held up so well.  I don't actually listen to Lemonade all that much anymore but even after all this time this is one of the pinnacle songs for me.

Pure joy the whole way through and a memorable music moment.

Tegan and Sara - Boyfriend

I'm sorry but this just doesn't work for me.  It feels like radio filler, and its up against some great songs.

Beyonce - XO

WE!!!! I think this song is underrated (?) or at least I don't tend to see it listed as a favourite from this album.  However, this is by far my favourite Beyonce album and I love the joyous feel of this song.  She managed to take a style that she was known for (songs like Halo etc) and make it into this amazing anthem.

Robyn - Dancing On My Own

Well. Her voice is a concern. However, this isn't that bad, I like the production and I think its an interesting synth pop classic.

Janet Jackson - No Sleep

It's not bad, but I don't consider this a song equivalent to some of her greater work.  I think its hard with legendary acts to not hold them to this impossible standard, but I admit that while this is a pleasant listen, I come away from it needing more.

Lana Del Rey - Venice Bitch

I hate that this is so long :skull:  The production is great and it ventures into this amazing ambiance....but?

I'd never seek it out on my own to set aside 10 minutes to listen to a song.

Solange - Don’t Touch My Hair

YUPPPP.  Cranes is THE song for me, but this is also really good.  I love the vibe the whole way through and I think its a key moment off the album for me.  Solange always has this intrigue to her for me where, for all the artsyness or w/e, there's substance behind it all.

Blood Orange - Best to You

This is pretty, I like it.  This was definitely a round that encouraged different artists so I'm glad you went with that.

Robyn - Honey

Sooooo boring, next

Lana Del Rey - The Greatest

I love it :sorro:

Angel Olsen - Lark

A 6 minute song is bold. This is interesting I suppose

Janelle Monae - Tightrope

Oop bop! This is the better Janelle song for me, but I mean its a flawless album so what can we expect?

Lana Del Rey - Video Games

Probably a classic

Kelela - Frontline

Ugh this is excellence.

Drake - Passionfruit

Oop the serve!  I actually like Yaeji's cover more because... women make better music than men, but this is such a classic and one of his best songs.  I think this will rank really high because I feel like i'm discovering it all over again for some reason rn

Janelle Monae - Make Me Feel

I kept hearing this on the car radio for months and I didn’t know this was from hers I- anyways this is a bop and I still like it

Beyonce - Formation

not my favorite from her but still an amazing song yup

Tegan and Sara - Boyfriend

not feeling this at all

Beyonce - XO

beautiful song :jonny5:

Robyn - Dancing On My Own

still a bop even though it kinda aged, screaming at robyn getting the carly treatment though

Janet Jackson - No Sleep

love the chorus and bridge, I think the verses are just fine :fewpoints:

Lana Del Rey - Venice Bitch

stunning, excellent etc etc

Solange - Don’t Touch My Hair

I like this but I’m not sure if I’ll rank this high

Blood Orange - Best to You

the random, I really like the vocals though

Robyn - Honey

the better robyn song, but that’s not saying much

Lana Del Rey - The Greatest

one of the best songs of all time me thinks :jonny5:

Angel Olsen - Lark

come on cinematic hymn, her vocals are kinda grating though

Janelle Monae - Tightrope

better janelle song and one of my favorites from her

Lana Del Rey - Video Games

kinda surprised that this aged well, still an amazing song

Kelela - Frontline

wait it’s the serve, the excellence WHEW

Drake - Passionfruit

okay maybe drake made some points, I really like this

janelle monae - make me feel

i think this is quirky. it has a clear charm on the way she delivers her lines and how the funky production complements that. it’s easy to groove to

beyonce - formation

the first time i heard this song, the production threw me off so much but it grew on me a lot and i find the production to be extremely fun and charismatic! i do not appreciate how repetitive it can get at times though

tegan and sara - boyfriend

it’s funny cause i read the pitchfork article for this song and it said something among the lines “tegan and sara’s best song yet” and, to me, it just sounds like every other song i’ve heard from them. i think the production is my main complaint since it lacks substance and it sounds like something i’ve heard before so it comes across as boring to me :/

beyonce - xo

i actually love this!! her vocals are lovely here and the production is very hypnotic! i honestly slept on this and paid more attention to drunk in love, but this is reaaaally good! added to my library <3

robyn - dancing on my own

i’m actually happy people switched on this cause i’ve never liked it :c i guess i find it just cute because of raven and jujubee but idk why it sounds to me like the song was put at .75 speed and they decided to use that as the official version. there’s a little instrumental part that has the same chord progression as the whistling on good life by onerepublic so i like that because it reminds me of the other song

janet jackson - no sleeep
wtf i was just listening to this and when i realized the song was over wow. i don’t mean that as something bad, i guess it means it has an hypnotic quality and i was vibing throughout, so… good song!

lana del rey - venice bitch

you have no idea how much i love this song. when i first saw that it was 9:37 i thought it was going to be a hot mess but i love this song soooooo much. this is probably my favorite track on nfr

solange - don’t touch my hair

this is very chill and artsy. i can see how it might appeal to a lot of people but this is just not my favorite genre of music :/ i did enjoy the trumpets and the synths

blood orange - best to you

this was honestly my favorite discovery of the whole round. i will rank this very high! great song!

robyn - honey

this is better than her other song for sure. i like her delivery and vocal production on the verses a lot, honestly. i think this is fun. i do have to say that i feel like what i don’t like about her songs is the instrumentation

lana del rey - the greatest

this is very breezy and i do enjoy seeing her on a brighter, more uplifting type of production. i do have to say that out of the three, this is my least favorite song. sounds like a church song at times which i find a little cringy f

angel olsen - lark

yesterday i heard this song for the first time because i was looking for songs, saw her name and knew people love her. but i don’t feel comfortable sending something that is not of my liking. so i’ll just leave it at that :/

janelle monae - tightrope

this is fun. has a very theatrical energy and while i appreciate that, i don’t think the over the top campiness quality that this type of songs have is my favorite. but i did enjoy it overall

lana del rey - video games

i know that people say btd aged and stuff like that but i still love the album and most of the songs. this one is very pretty and gives me such a summery vibe <3 i love the strings on the second verse so much!!

kelela - frontline

i find this to be good but i also feel like it’s not as outstanding as some people are saying? like, i do like it and can’t say anything is wrong with it. but it just doesn’t… nevermind, the last part of the song is amazing. i love long songs that manage to give you something -more- as they continue to progress

drake - passionfruit

this song and slide were such staples for my summer of 2017. i honestly love this island, tropical vibe the music of that year had. gives me such a nostalgic feeling where i used to go to bars and everything felt so perfect? i don’t know, it just gives me such a great feeling
