Music Videos

#5. SALEM - "Red River"

This video is so unnerving. There's something insidious about how much information is collected about us.

#4. REINEN - "Shadow Knight"

The real queen of cats. Taylor Swift who??

#3. BARK BARK DISCO & JOON - "Another Play"

I really enjoy the lighthearted feeling of this video. The color scheme is amazing.

Finally you started :gaycat4: Haven't watched a lot of music videos this year, only some from the big pop girls.

Angel Olsen being all over your 2019 list with some Caroline, Charli & Tinashe mixed in as well :smitten: Only heard True Blue for the 1st time this year and it's lovely.

Music Videos

#2. Billie Eilish - "Therefore I Am"

Growing up, I lived down the street from the mall. I loved going to the food court and arcade and walking around exploring the whole place. This video takes me back to that.

#1. Porches - "Patience"

Let's be honest, I'm a sucker for most music videos set in a high school.

Therefore I Am has a cute video, wish it was a little more eventful but it does make me a tiny bit nostalgic. "'Cause we were like the mall before the Internet, it was the one place to be" Taylor spilled!

Honestly I've only heard LMLYLAW once and it didn't feel special at all. Don't plan on listening to it again until the album is out. :matty: Didn't remember what The Pines sounded like, it's alright. Los Angeles :eddie: Kyoto is lovely & my favorite from Punisher :date:

Tracks

#10. DESIRE - "Bizarre Love Triangle"

I've gotten a lot into DESIRE this year and this track is one of the reasons why!

#9. Sufjan Stevens - "My Rajneesh"

#8. Porches - "Patience"

#7. Charli XCX - "forever"

This came out around when quarantine started and it helped me get through the workday while working from home.

#6. Megan Thee Stallion - "Savage"

No hate to the Beyonce version, but I prefer Megan's lyrics on the original.

#5. SALEM - "Sears Tower"

One of my favorite SALEM leaks was released in all its glory.

#4. DUA LIPA - "Physical"

I'm absolutely obsessed with everything about this song. The production is amazing and it has a hasty and urgent vibe that I like.

#3. Cigarettess After Sex - "You're All I Want"

A song that helped me through quarantine while missing someone.

#2. Black Dresses- "Left Arm of Life"

The climax of this song is stimulating. It triggers euphoria for me.

#1. Chromatics- "Faded Now"

I know this is a remix of an older track, but it's so fleshed out it feels like a completely new song. It's the perfect thing to tide me over until Dear Tommy.

Savage is tolerable but like plenty of viral hits this year, couldn't really get into it all the way. forever  Lately I've been appreciating it more than when it first dropped. Now as for Physical... :alexz: I've been stanning that since day 1, definitely a strong contender for her best song. Happy new year :foxaylove:

Albums

6. Grimes: Miss Anthropocene

Miss%20Anthropocene_Grimes.jpg

Probably my least favorite Grimes album, but it was still pretty good.

5. 070 Shakes: Modus Vivendi

modusvivendi.jpg

4. Haim: Women in Music Pt. III

Women%20in%20Music%20Pt.%20III_Haim.jpg

3. Charli XCX: how i'm feeling now

How%20I'm%20Feeling%20Now_Charli%20XCX.j

This album feels really raw which is a reason why I like it so much.

2. SALEM: Fires in Heaven

fires%20in%20heaven_salem.jpg

Literally ten years after their first album, SALEM releases another. I was worried this album would disappoint, but the synths and production sound so good on it. I miss Heather being in the group, but it's great to hear John again.

1. Black Dresses: Peaceful as Hell

Peaceful%20as%20Hell_Black%20Dresses.jpg

This album covers so many different topics and has a sense of optimism that I love. It's a huge bummer that they broke up because I feel like they would have kept getting better. Everything about this album is iconic to me including the coverart.

Don't necessarily love #5-3 in full but they all have really great standouts. I would actually rank them the exact same way! Charli's album would be more enjoyable if the middle of the tracklist was stronger, it starts and ends SO nicely though, the first 3 + last 2 tracks are my top 5.
