Starting December 24th, I'll be doing my 2019 and 2020 countdowns.

I work, and have Zoom fatigue, so I'll see though.

It's actually a bop, Kali blends right on in you almost mistake her for Yukimi!

75. Rina Sawayama, “STFU!”

Gentle pop vocals over an instrumental something out of an early 2000s WWE entrance video. Let us normalize this experimentation in pop.

74. Austra. “Risk It”

Do not get too thrown off by the high-pitched vocals as soon as you hit play, you’ll get used to it, this is a bop.

73. Porches, “Do U Wanna”

Porches went from lo-fi indie to pop huh. I loved a layered track with build up.

72. Travis Scott, “FRANCHISE (feat. Young Thug & M.I.A.)”

I thought M.I.A. retired!? This is the trio collab we did not know we needed. Distorted and twisted, it’s art but you pretend like you know what it’s about.

71. BeatKing, “Then Leave (feat. Queendome Come)”

The stripper music-Club God, BeatKing, gained noise largely thanks to TikTok. Good, the world needs to hear Queendome’s earworm voice and hook. We need another DJ Luke style takeover in Hip-Hop.

70. Drake, “Chicago Freestyle (feat. Giveon)”

Be honest, Drake hasn’t released anything good in 2020 until this Giveon track. Drake has an ear indeed.

69. Disclosure “My High (feat. slowthai & Aminé)”

Is it “SexyBack” on LSD? Aminé sounds too good here, “Shimmy” was cute, but he might need to venture into club music next go round.

68. Troye Sivan, “Take Yourself Home”

At the top of 2020 Troye was the only pop boy DOING IT.

67. Thundercat, “Funny Thing”

Everything Thundercat does best in under 2:00 min. Such a fun playful vibe.

66. Romy, “Lifetime”

This is so gay. We love that here.

65. The Avalanche, “Running Red Lights (feat. Rivers Cuomo & Pink Siifu)”

These hopeful sentiments and gentle vocals over these lighthearted sounds are so not the mood of 2020.

64. Yves Tumor, “Kerosene! (feat. Diana Gordon)”

Yves should never put down a guitar. It is great to hear Diana aka Wynter Gordon again, her distinct vocals work so well on this dreamy electric record.

63. The Weeknd, “Blinding Lights”

Hated this for such a while, and I made that decision before I even listened to the song because I’m just tired of this fool. It’s the shiny synths and nostalgia that reels you.

62. The 1975, “Tonight (I Wish I Was Your Boy)”

When you’re bold enough to use a Temptations sample and the song ends up not being…bad…you’ve won.

61. Victoria Monet, “Experience (feat. Khalid)”

Was not expecting Victoria to swoop us with a disco anthem. Even “Jaguar” is almost close to being interchangeable here.

I can't unhear this now :deadbanana: But glad you listed STFU! It got massive unwarranted hate when it first dropped.

Disclosure, Thundercat, Yves, The Weeknd, Victoria :clap3: You wasn't feeling After Hours?

Take Yourself Home :katie2: I prefer Easy a bit though

I listened to Lifetime and I think it was cute, need to hear it again

Blinding Lights of course, and Tonight I Was Your Boy is definitely a highlight from that messy album :dies:

60. James Blake, “Are You Even Real?”

ARE YOU, JAMES? ARE ****ING YOU!? This is heaven.

59. Charli XCX, “claws”

The forgotten femcee of the year. This beat goes hard, and Charli just knows how to ride it effortlessly with no restrictions.

58. SZA, “Hit Different (feat. Ty Dolla $ign)”

Not the greatest debut from what we all was expecting a monstrous comeback but it gets the job done. Highlights have to be the blended “ooh woahs” from the duo and the last two bars of the 2nd verse that set her apart from all the other girls with her experimenting/distinctness.

57. Brent Faiyaz, “Dead Man Walking”

The man responsible for the vibes of GodLink’s “Crew.” His music is produced so well sonically with a distinct voice that glides so perfectly. Severely underrated in R&B.

56. TeaMarr, “Tick (feat. SIR)”

If you haven’t heard of TeaMarr, think of the awkward black girl excellence of Issa Rae meets similar tone and vocal arrangements of SZA. Yeah, I sold you. Get into this catchy ass sex BOP.

55. Harry Styles, “Adore You”

Not at any point would I ever thought I would be drawn to Harry’s music career. This did it. It has those cute teeny bopper vibes yet still cryptic in its meaning, and mature in vocals.

54. beabadoobee, “Care”

It’s simplistic 2000s pop mixed with heavy 90s rock influences. She knew what she was doing.

53. Yebba, “Distance”

This is the chilliest farewell message. Please get to the end, the climax is chef’s kiss, some of the best surprise vocal runs you will ever hear. Goosebumps!

52. Khruangbin, “Time (You and I)”

It does not get any more psychedelic and funkier than this. Simple message to pick up and vibes that make you want to play ring around the rosie and somersault into some grass.

51. Gorillaz, “Momentary Bliss (feat. Slowthai & Slaves)”

I love chaos, I love build-up, I love explosion.
