JoJo - Good to Know Top 30 Favorite Albums of 2020 22. Kygo - Golden Hour Kygo is one of those EDM producers/DJs that I really adore even though some of his beats are too generic. With this album, I find that the songs are pretty much flowing perfectly with each other and that Kygo sound is just magic to my ears. Favorite tracks: Hurting, Lose Somebody, I'll Wait, How Would I Know 21. Justin Bieber - Changes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Changes_(Justin_Bieber_album)#/media/File:Justin_Bieber_-_Changes.png By now you must have realized that I'm a big Bieber fan, so apologies for those annoyed by him. I admit that this album is not as strong as Purpose BUT despite the messy trap beats, Bieber's vocals haven't been better than this album, and that's what made me like this. Plus, I actually think the songwriting here is brilliant, even the production. It's just difficult to digest because most of the songs have the same production structure, which sucks because it could have been so much better with a little bit of diversity. Still, I enjoyed it (more so than a lot of pop albums this year). Favorite tracks: Forever, Intentions, Changes, Habitual, Get Me Top 100 Favorite Singles of 2020 80. Charlie Puth - Girlfriend Charlie unleased his "supposed-to-be" lead and it is a funky track that veins in the same root of Voicenotes. While I do enjoy his "Voicenotes" production, I think he should have continued with I Warned Myself or Cheating on You type of songs. Still, this is a big bop. 79. Ariana Grande - Positions Ariana's lead is a step back from what she released in Sweetener (and TUN, except 7 rings because that song is shite), but it's still pop candy and the vocals are just too good to ignore it. I do wish I could hear another Thank U Next, or Breathin', next time. 78. Taylor Swift - The Man The Man is such a generic bop but it's a bop from Ms. Swift that is so catchy the haters should just shut up. Plus the video is amazing. 77. Will Ferrell and My Marianne - Husavik (My Hometown) First of all, this movie is so funny you should all watch it. Demi's a mess there too, so go watch it. Also, it carries this song which is monumental to the film's climax. I love how Rachel McAdams was able to lip-sync really well because it really looks like she's the one singing! Plus the song is so special because it's an ode to a hometown, and I love how the local language of Iceloand was incorporated in the song. Respect to the songwriters and composers, it's just really beautiful. And that last note!!! 76. Miley Cyrus and Dua Lipa - Prisoner This power duo is so unexpected but they made the song work! Lauv - How I'm Feeling Lauv released his second album (they say it's his debut but I consider his "I Met You When I was 18" playlist as an album) which offered growth over his "playlist" album. He used more instruments and experimentation in this album which I think is pretty cool and gave him more of a brand despite most people saying his music is just fodder on random playlists. I love how the songs still sound very minimalistic despite upping up his production. Favorite tracks: Lonely Eyes, Mean It, Changes, Julia, Invisible Things 19. Mandy Moore - Silver Landings Mandy released a new album this year after a very long hiatus, and it marked a more mature sound than her previous albums (and both Amanda Leigh/Wild Hope both have mature content). What I like about Mandy's music is its authenticity, and she may not have a high range vocally, but she for sure sings really emotive and the songs are simple yet deep, and they connect. I can definitely listen to a Mandy album every time I feel lazy or blue on a rainy day. Favorite tracks: Silver Landings, Save a Little for Yourself, Fifteen, Stories Reminding Myself of Me Top 100 Favorite Singles of 2020 75. Harry Styles - Golden Harry has had a golden (yes pun intended) year, and this is the first of four HS tracks in my best of. Lovely track, I hope it can be as big as Watermelon Sugar or Adore You. 74. Calvin Harris, The Weeknd - Over Now I was hoping this could be the follow-up hit to The Weeknd's Blinding Lights, but it didn't happen. This song totally fell under the radar but not on my watch! it's so good! I adore this type of production from Calvin - he did it before with Feels and now he did it again with Over Now. Amazing. 73. Jake Scott - Like No One Does No one in ATRL probably knows Jake Scott - but if you give him a chance, he's vocals are very good, and his songs are fire. This is such a good bop that I got addicted to it during quarantine days. 72. Lauren Alaina, Lukas Graham - What Do You Think Of? A surprising duet from these two artists? YES! And it's perfection! Lukas' voice is really HIGH, but Lauren was able to complement her rich vocals with Lukas' tone. The bridge when their voices just got higher and higher is amazing. 71. We the Kings - These Nights Pop-rock at its finest! Love the lyrics too, I can totally relate. I really hope this kind of music can chart again in the Hot 100.
