SLIME Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 I can't agree that 80s > 90s (for hip hop) but I do see the same charm in that song + I love it. I like this set. Yeah idk who Jacob is, but I enjoy the song he has with Ty Dolla (speaking of the featuring meme). and I missed U.S. Girls for most of this year oops
Lazuli Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 4 american dollars saved the entire album tbh! in your eyes really does give devotion vibes - not really my preferred jessie vibe but it's still a bop Quote i dont even remember impossible soul.............. omg bad fan. GORL... go spend 30 minutes listening to it and you'll be like america WHO?
geodancefreak Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 Shygirl & Jessie Ware (even tho both of these songs are not my favs on their albums)
ikiru Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 the xXXi_wud_nvrstøp_ÜXXx remix! absolutely love it, the whole remix album was great! we need more hannah x tommy! and i totally agree with what you said about hannah's vocals! shygirl and jessie

KasioKas Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 I don't get the love for Naked, it's generic
Sunderland 4ever Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 23 hours ago, Madame X said: tricot - 體 genre: math rock, hard rock That was a nice discovery this year. I found it on RYM. 4 American Dollars was okay too. I didn't like the album much, though.
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 12, 2020 Author ATRL Moderator Posted December 12, 2020 60. kate nv - telefon genre: art pop for fans of: kate bush (i know...) this song, i know its a trite comparison especially cuz they both are named kate, gives me heavy kate bush teas. its a really gorgeous closer with a nice blend of sharp synths harmonica and a marimba. her vocal hooks are a nice addition to the song but they aren't the focal part of the song. she sings russian in this song (thats the language she speaks most, but not all the time). its just nice to have an art pop artsy fartsy girl giving us uplifting happy sounding music. 59. madison beer - baby genre: dance pop for fans of: astrid s, ariana she gave us an early 2000s faux rnb hook with ariana buwygiub verses. i dont know much about madison beer other than lots of people dont like her. shes very pretty. i think every once in a while the flop girls can give us beautiful pop hymns and this is prob the best d lister bop this year. get into it. 58. disclosure - watch your step genre: house, dance pop for fans of: kelis, goldfrapp kelis comes out of her kitchen to deliver us a holy bop and the best disclosure collaboration since white noise. she knew we were thirsty for a bop so she gave us a super gay chorus that fills my heart with happiness. 57. annie - dark hearts genre: synth pop, synth wave for fans of: early 10s indie music annie always flirted with slowcore and sad girl music, but she finally went 100% of the way this year, but what makes this so good is the whole synth wave and new romantic vibes. the chorus creeps in on you, and once you finally begin to love it it gives you a ***well deserved*** key change. 56. lido pimienta - eso que to haces genre: art pop, cumbia for fans of: st vincent, grimes i dunno, the 'for fans of' for her seems lame, but truthfully i think shs will be liked by anybody who enjoys alternative girls. she makes artsy pop songs with traditional colombian music as the template. this is my favorite song from her because of her gorgeous belting and the horns/saxes on the chorus. 55. lil uzi vert - fustal shuffle genre: hip hop for fans of: beep boops on hip hop/trap songs this is basically your typical well written hook by lil uzi vert but yeah the reason why this song blew up is because of the amazing instrumental that sounds like a high pitched sped up synth from a eurotrash song from 2001. theres basically one flow throughout the entire song but thats why i like it. keep it simple. also omg, this is the songs 1 year birthday. happy birhtday. 54. isabella lovestory - mariposa genre: neoperreo for fans of: ms nina, bad gyal i already sorta went over her in the ep lists. its the perfect song to get into her. catchy, slutty, and cocky. 53. lady gaga - alice genre: dance pop for fans of: alice by lady gaga this song is so relatable, because my name is also not alice! on paper thats the stupidest lyric but she sells it so well, and then its followed by whats absolutely 100% the best drop chorus bloodpop has, or will ever be responsible for. pain on the dancefloor is something that every artist has done, but i would argue to say that this is gaga's best attempt at this trope. theres a lot of passion in her voice. 52. fiona apple - i want you to love me genre: piano rock, art pop for fans of: honestly, if you liked the idler wheel in any capacity youll like this i see this album has already begun to have haters and people saying its overrated trash. im here to tell you that you are wrong. i want you to love me is the stunning opener from this classic album with millions of piano hooks. the best part is absolutely when she she goes "youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu" duh, what other part would be your favorite? 51. moses sumney - virile genre: art pop, art rock for fans of: yves tumor im glad im not the only person who cheated by putting this song on their list. i knnow its 2019, but its late 2019, and it was a discover for me this year. just an all around gorgeous song that totally got me sold on an artist i thought i would not enjoy.
Green Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 i want you to love me and Alice Alice is one of my favorites from Chromatica

I actually never thought about how it could kinda easily slide into ANY of her previous songs with a touch up and you're so right omg... Leng is cute! Yeah 4 American Dollars, the only decent (well no, it's a great song) from that trash album. Such a disappointment; I should have put it in my bottom 20. In My Bones is lowkey my SOTY. Kimbra slayed, Jacob was classic "play that funky music white boy"ing it up but it works, and Tank did THAT (their album from last year is cute btw). For You is AWESOME. This is what the vocal sample is from btw: yeah i dot know what the **** happened with that album, felt like a boring parody of her earlier work (re: us girls) yeah im gonna go stan change now, its happening. wait are you doing a songs list? if so omg in my bones is a good #1 thats kinda the tea on him tho, its totally play that funky music which is why it gets such... dorky energy from me. well, i like it anyway. 16 hours ago, K$Ellie said: ugh Experience is SO good, the only song I really use from her but still love to see Why Not stanning it's such a grower and the way the production keeps switching up is so LETS PUMP IT UP I think ATM sucks tbh Leng isn't my fave on the Shygirl EP but I do really like it Naked one of Ava's few good songs 4 American Dollars was one of the 2 songs I saved from that album In Your Eyes feels underrated, v cute song you dont use jaguar? leng isn't my fave either we'll see whats #1 in your eyes is underrated, its >> save a kiss.
Remmy Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 Alice A great way to start off the album for sure "for fans of: alice by lady gaga" Oh, period!

SLIME Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 I like this set too u’ve been coming thru with lots of taste. I didn’t like or get Alice at first but I’ve come to see it’s one of the standouts yes. I think if I was listening to Kate NV with no context - I wouldn’t guess Russian was her first language but maybe something Asian. I might put Virile on my list too because that one just hit me recently... I kind of hated on Moses at times this year but he does put out good work. omg yeah love the 2000s throwbacks on Uzi song. Forgot what Baby sounds like but listening again. Watch Your Step is also one of the biggest bops of the year so I’m glad to see that here. - edit: ok ya Baby is good lol
KasioKas Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 Lol @ the backhanded compliment for Madison
TheWayWeWere Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 Baby is cutie, I kinda can't @ her trying to be Ari Watch Your Step I need new Kelis bops in my life Alice
