Are there any receipts indicating that user-generated videos had anything to do with Mariah's #1 last year? I wasn't able to find anything that said this from a quick glance at the Billboard articles that aren't paywalled.

Billboard won't say anything about it, but my projected numbers (same with others from TOTC) have a lot of UGC streams for all Christmas 

I agree that they will probably change the rules

This - it may get there but another song will probably have broken the record.

 

Further, we don't really know if it will hold up in the next five to ten years but I think people will have a burnout rate for the song especially if more new Christmas songs will be released and newer releases will get momentum (Santa Tell Me, My Only Wish This Year, etc.) or the classics will pass AIWFCIY in consumption (which I can see happening).
