Hate when people ignore Queen Janets Legacy. And she just scored her last #1 album like 2/3 years ago

and she has a number 1 in 4 decades

congrats to Taylor as well ?

If released properly, she can score a 5th consecutive decade.

I wonder what kind of interest a re-recording/release of Her debut would get; it's Her only non-#1

I feel like the right marketing push could see pretty much all of her rerecordings of her early records topping the chart.

Madonna, Mariah, Janet, Celine etc are over now that ticket bundles won't count...it is what it is.

It was different back in the day. Albums would often work up to their peak rather than debuting highly - Daydream for example didn’t hit its highest sales week until several weeks in.

Is that delayed or what? What’s the 411 on that?

Welp and Janet aint getting that 8th with Black Diamond unless she gets some kind of Beyonce/Adele exposure. Still a legend tho Damita Jo deserved that #1 spot

As far as I know it was supposed to come out during the summer, but one covid happened I hadn't heard a peep about it.

Janet has never done ticket bundles unlike the other three and her last album Unbreakable went to #1 and sold 116k units first week with no promotion and no major label support.

Unbreakable did have a tour bundle sis. She could still get a #1 with a little promo though.

Not really for the first week sales, it was actually pre-order her album on her official website to get an access code for early pre-sale access to purchase tickets to the Unbreakable tour. Tickets were not automatically bundled with the album. I actually pre-ordered the album and received an email about the code.

Unbreakable did have tour merch bundles with the album after the 1st week sales though when the tour picked up again and every tour merchandise purchased automatically came with a copy of the album.
