Oh wow interesting! But mess at this Falling song reaching #1 on pop when it’s current stats everywhere else are just abysmal   

the definition of payola. the fact that it's at its H100 peak because of radio when it dried up everywhere months ago is a mess. especially since it was a legit streaming smash

'Falling' is a cute bop, but should've tapped out at like #8-10. It might even be out of the Top 40 on next week's H100 chart (Juice album bomb) when it's officially credited as a #1 on Mainstream Top 40

That's precisely the opposite of payola. If it had been payola, it would have peaked on radio months ago.

Billboard doesn't use mediabase for its rankings though. The official chart since October of 1992 is Billboard Pop Songs and the peak of that song is #2 on Billboard Pop Songs.

During its #16 peak GYHAB was #31 on Digital Songs and #32 on On-Demand Songs thank god it was a slow burner on radio

 

Her label releasing it 6 months after Skyscraper is what makes me SICK and that song was dead after 20 weeks

I understand this viewpoint but disagree. the audience and radio are completely out of sync: the call outs & streaming are now mediocre, indicating the audience is over it. Plus it has been parked at #2 forever and Interscope has been campaigning to keep it there until Blinding Lights was weak enough to drop from #1. this is a forced one week #1 that will drop like a rock

Its sales peaked far before its airplay peaked, right? I checked the Year-End charts, and it was #39 there - pretty good for a song that missed the top 15. It was the only song in the top 50 year-end that missed the top 15, it was ROBBED of a higher, more deserved peak

Not the songs fault America is always late to the party. This song has been out and doing wonders for months, radio just caught on super late.

Exactly. People are so quick to scream payola these days. They need to retire that and shade because they're overused to hell and back.

Yeah it’s peak position on digital songs chart was #21 around July and it stayed in the top 25 until around late august when it started to drop whilst it peaked on pop radio in early september  it really did deserve top 10 but the on-demand streams also were pretty mediocre during its peak so radio was fuelling this thing
