I think these Billboard stats are going to become less relevant if they stop representing what's actually most popular. It makes no sense to make single sales count more when most music listeners are primarily streaming and the bundles situation has turned the music industry into a joke.

Yup. It goes to show how much of a joke it’s become. Back in the day HIAM was considered one of the “most frontloaded flops” ever when it fell from #1, but the gag is it still spent 3 weeks in the Top 10 and these newer songs don’t even last more than 1 week in the Top 10 :rip:

I agree, weighting these bundles like they're thousands(?) of times stronger than streams is a mess. 70k sales is only reflective of, at most, the demand of 70k people.

HIAM was still front loaded as **** but yes, not as front loaded and gimmicky as SWU or The Scotts

I think front loaded songs will always exist as long as an artist has a big fan base and the general public doesn't like the song, but it makes no sense to make iTunes sales count more than it did 2 years ago when nobody is using iTunes except for hardcore fans who are just buying the song to make their fave chart higher on Billboard and some boomers. And I'll always be against buying a t-shirt counting as an album or single sale.

Spotify charts, Apple Music charts, SPS/sales certifications >>> Billboard
