Was it always like this or have they changed their Hot 100 formula recently? I'm pretty sure like 2-3 years ago every #1 would stay at the top for weeks.

I think it's because first week bundles like signed vinyls and merch bundles have become more of the norm the past ~2 years, single sales are also weighted more heavily than they were in the past so they're quite effective. I don't know if that was true for The Scotts but it was true for Rain On Me and Stuck With U (which, to their credit, both had solid streaming figures)

 

Other songs have descended pretty quickly from No. 1 in the past like the American Idol winners singles, Hold It Against Me and This Is America, but the number of songs going No. 1 then dropping immediately out of the Top 10 with this frequency is a new phenomenon for sure

Heartless, The Scotts & SWU mainly went #1 thanks to store bundles, that’s why they all fell like a rock the next week.

 

ROM is falling a bit because it never had a radio deal so the AI updates aren’t so big. It’s doing great on sales/streaming

I can’t believe we’re on to another #1 and it’s 6 different songs in 6 different weeks. I haven’t seen chart movement like this since 2010

I think these Billboard stats are going to become less relevant if they stop representing what's actually most popular. It makes no sense to make single sales count more when most music listeners are primarily streaming and the bundles situation has turned the music industry into a joke.
