ol at some of you trying to ban Xmas songs from billboard. They are most popular songs during this time and billboard is supposed to show the most popular music from the American Public so what’s the problem?

I hope that will never happen as well as banning more songs from one album like UK did.

This chart should be always TOP 100 most popular songs (radio streaming and sales) in that particular week. If top songs is christmas song - let it be.

If all top 10 songs are drake's or ed's songs - let it be. Don't ban anything, just let it be top 100 most popular songs.

Banning christmas music would be backwards for the Hot 100, even worst than the UK charts banning album bombs and allowing only 3 songs to chart just because they don't let lesser hits to chart higher.

It's like banning Whitney from charting after she died, or banning Gaga or Missy from charting after the Superbowl.

After changing recurrent rules in 2012 Billboard can't choose what they want to chart. If they ban christmas music then they would need to ban all the recurrent music from the charts. It's all or nothing.

Ariana and Halsey had no problem blocking Mariah last year

If Adele, Rihanna or Drake released something, they would have blocked Mariah this year too. Even Roxanne by a new random artist could block her this year too with meme streams so we don't know yet.

I mean yall say this, but billboard is not all ot nothing :rip: no matter how much you want them to be. They enforce rules at their discretion all the time.

And y’all are so corny and stanwar’d :rip: i love AIWFC, and im streaming to get her the #1. But objectively, billboard will not allow the top 10 to be the same 10 xmas songs each year. Its bad business for them.

Come on,

last year only Mariah and Brenda made Top 10.

If your favs can't release a song that beats 25 years old Xmas song then it's their problem.

We appreciete the Mariah streams of you though.:date2:

Y’all have to remember billboard Are not purist  Chart watchers like atrl. Their main priorities are keeping the charts fresh, as that makes labels actively promoting artists happy as well as drives traffic for them. That lies at the heart of why recurrence rules even exists. The xmas rush of music is antithetic to that, and the way they added more recurrency rules despite kicking and screaming they will do to this. and will they pick and choose exceptions? Ofcourse, they always do.

The idea that banning Christmas music because it's "annoying" and "boring"  is such a stupid reason. This is data , and just because you find tracking a chart entertaining, the purpose of the chart is not to cater to your entertainment.

The correct approach would be to ban songs that benefit from paying to rank high on  playlists, songs  benefit from radio payola (or radio in general) and other forms of manipulation.  The chart should be indicative of the songs that people generally seek out, not what is fed to them.   That in turn will lower the impact of Christmas songs.

You can't call for the ban of an entire genre of music when it is not the sole genre that benefits from the actual problem.

Mariah getting a re-peak already...Imagine the massive streams during Christmas week.

Can you justify why we have recurrent rules at all?

How is this bad for labels? Record labels that own Christmas songs they don't have to promote that hard for them. They get extra coin from them.

The only reason Last Christmas, AIWFCIY and Rockin Around are the biggest seasonal songs is because of millennials and Gen X grew up with those songs. Santa Tell Me, Mistletoe and Underneath the Christmas Tree are going to be the most popular songs in a couple of years.

How is AIWFCIY tracking doing so far for next week's update?

Is there any chance a Juice Wrld song will block Mariah in the upcoming week? His death was very sudden and we saw what happened with XXX
