TSLGNMA Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 If Mariah Carey has the first number one of the 2020’s... who woulda thought. I will be streaming!
suburbannature Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 I don’t think going #1 Christmas week would count as 2020 because that chart is still released in a week that’s 2019-2020

But they are super weird to me, but then again christmas music is always weird. Make that **** just go away please. A 100 year old song going #1 would be pretty funny though and it certainly seems like its happening this year

We have to see how this weekend will be, maybe she has a chance for #1 before Xmas final week. 3. Mariah has 3 singles doing good from her album, not only All I want but also Baby please come home and oh holy night. All these 3 songs should push the album into top 3 if not even #1 during the final Xmas week. 4. A #1 before and after Xmas means a #1 in 4 different decades for Mariah 5. Mariah going #1 means: 19th #1, Xmas #1 on the 25th anniversary of the song and album 6. Probably one of the most iconic moments in the history of music 7. Brenda is going hard as well 8. Don’t cancel any of your orders for Mariah in the final Xmas week, nothing is safe yet 9. Just let this woman have the #1, support the Queen, cancel al your favs, don’t listen to any other Xmas song, cancel TikTok stupid songs, be part of an iconic history moment 10. Baby please come home and holy night are doing so great i'm actually shocked oh holy night is doing great on youtube while Baby please does great on spotify. and we have promo coming

Lipgloss Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 How many xmas songs were in the top 10 last year?

slobro Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 (edited) Yeah, after Mariah gets her #1, I hope Billboard excludes the Xmas songs from the chart again Edited December 7, 2019 by slobro
TaylenaStan Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 (edited) Yeah where the **** do those AIWFCIF on demand streams come from? 6M last week on Spotify and it did better on Spotify than AM (probably 5-6M on AM) but even if we are generous and say 8M on AM i still dont know where those streams come from Is it #1 on Amazon Music yet? but even then i doubt it gets like 6-8M from Amazon Music To compare: HDD has Circles getting 15.4M. It did 8M last week on Spotify so 7.4M from AM/others. It was ahead of AIWFC all week on AM so it did more on AM, probably like 6-6.5M and then 1M other platforms Edited December 7, 2019 by TaylenaStan

But the Christmas ones are more unpredictable as you said. And I love Xmas songs charting its only for one month of the year and they’re charting cause they’re more popular than whatever is out it’s only fair to let it chart IMO

And Heartless/Circles were ahead on both Spotify/AM, especially Heartless did more than double of AIWFC on Spotify AND was #1 on AM ALL WEEK, still AIWFC did more on-demand streams according to HDD

If we have 10 christmas songs in the top 10 that week, that's fine. I wouldn't be a fan of Billboard banning them I just don't like that they exist and that people like them (and that they are so difficult to estimate)

Is it the demographic that uses that compared to spotify and apple music (why would that be? such a massive difference?) or they layout / promo that amazon does to me i think it's the mix of 1) alexa being a popular christmas gift, 2) alexa being so easy to use, 3) amazon music's audience's age being older, and older people are probably more likely to go straight to the editorialised playlists instead of going out and picking, and 4) people probably using alexa to set the mood for christmas-themed parties and get-togethers. i think 4 is a particularly effective reason because all you can say is "alexa, play me holiday music" and it'll basically generate a never-ending holiday music radio station-esque playlist for you. i've seen it done at my own family's get-togethers and it's incredibly effective because it can go on for an entire night. every year in the US, amazon gets especially aggressive with holiday product promotion and the product that they always promote the most is the alexa device. such publicity can only result in a proxy boost for christmas music on their streaming platforms (prime music and music unlimited)… Edited December 7, 2019 by eaucitronnée
Merlls Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 1. ‘Adore You’, 3,9kk 2. ‘SUGA’s Interlude’, com 2,9kk 3. ‘My Oh My’, 1,9kk 4. ‘Christmas Tree Farm’, 1,1kk 5. ‘Put A Little Love On Me’, 840k People don’t want to hear another Xmas song

They have a bunch of holiday-themed playlists and "stations"

DemDam92 Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 lol at some of you trying to ban Xmas songs from billboard. They are most popular songs during this time and billboard is supposed to show the most popular music from the American Public so what’s the problem?
