Do you hate the CMAs boost as well? Because the ACMs boost is much smaller :chick3:

CHART STORY: PEOPLE WANT MORE

Quote

Yes, it’s still Drake. The YMCMB/Republic megastar spends a third week atop the HITS Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart with More Life, which earns an additional 137k.

Another one that’s expected to have a long tail, Ed Sheeran’s Divide, holds at #2, tacking on 80k.

As for new releases, Kodak Black’s Painting Pictures (WMG) debuts at #3 with 70k, while Mastodon’s Emperor of Sand (Reprise) bows at #6 with 41k. The only other debut to make the Top 15 is Columbia’s MercyMe, which appears at #13 with 28k.

And then there are the ACM Award-related bumps. Miranda Lambert’s TheWeight of These Wings (Vanner/RCA Nashville), which was dubbed Album of the Year at the 4/2 ceremony, re-enters at #10 with approximately 32k. Keith Urban’s performances certainly moved the needle, as Capitol Nashville set Ripcord leaps #24-12. Chris Stapleton’s Traveller (Mercury Nashville) and Florida Georgia Line’s Dig Your Roots (Big Machine) both break back into the Top 30. New Female Vocalist of the Year Maren Morris’ Hero (Columbia Nashville), show host Luke Bryan’s Kill the Lights (Capitol Nashville), performer Reba McEntire’s Sing It Now: Songs of Faith & Hope (Rockin’ R/BMLG) and Male Vocalist and Song of the Year winner Thomas Rhett’s Tangled Up (Valory/BMLG) re-enter at #32, #35, #42 and 43, respectively.

When it comes to SPS marketshare, UMG leads with 45%. Then there’s WMG at #2 with 30%, followed by SME at #3 with 24% and the indies with 1%.

Streaming aside, four titles were in the race for the best-selling album once again this week. Mastodon ends up on top of the Sales Chart with around 40k, and Sheeran follows with 32k. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast soundtrack (#8 on the SPS chart) and MercyMe come in at #3 and #4 with just south of 32k and just north of 25k, respectively.

Streeting this week are albums from Disruptor/Columbia’s The Chainsmokers, RCA’s Pentatonix, Capitol’s Cold War Kids, Sub Pop’s Father John Misty, 4AD’s Future Islands and Verve’s Michelle Branch.

Early reads show The Chainsmokers’ Memories… Do Not Open bowing with 175k, which is expected to put the set at #1.

And what about Columbia labelmate Harry Styles? He dropped his first solo single today to an explosive reaction, and he’s confirmed for SNL on Saturday 4/15. Considering performers do two songs on the NBC TV show, can we expect another song to come this coming week? And what about the album?

Lastly: Kendrick. The TDE/Interscope heavyweight revealed that a 14-song album will drop on 4/14. At presstime, a title had not yet been announced. Single “Humble” is #1 on our Streaming Songs Chart this week with a giant 32.8m streams.

In advertising news, Pepsi has decided to solve the remainder of the world’s problems.

Eds gonna be doing even more in SPS than Drake very soon. Of course Drakes real sales are as pitiful as ever so soon. He is as streaming specific as he is local.
