With "Pon De Replay" going Platinum today, Rihanna breaks several records in the UK:

 

- Most Platinum singles in UK history (27, breaking a tie w/ Ed Sheeran)

- First & only artist to score at least 1 Platinum single from 8 consecutive albums

He has 28 singles as a lead and 17 as a featured artist.

Rihanna has like 40 with 8 albums out of which some of those shouldn't even be considered singles, because they were released in certain region only.

Yes (as does the US) but it's worth noting that it's actually harder to get platinum certifications in the UK than in the US.

In the UK, you need 600k for a platinum single. In the US, it's 1M but with a much larger population.

So, adjusting for population, 1x platinum in the UK is roughly equivalent to 3x platinum in the US.

 

I always like to point this out when Rih's UK stats get brought up, because I think a lot of people don't realise just how impressive they are.

All songs are included. Ed hasn't released that many singles, but many of his album tracks got enough sales and streams to earn a certification.
