Is Reputation lowkey better than 1989?

In some respects, yes. I get more enjoyment from reputation than 1989 because she's like this punk rock hood rebel chick and it's fun.

Yes. I still really like 1989, but over time, Reputation is better.

I only use Out of the Woods, Wildest Dreams, Style and I Know Places in 1989 now (and to an extent, Blank Space) while I listen to most of Reputation regularly.

Highkey. 1989 had a lot of signature hits, but the album as a whole isn't nearly as strong as reputation.

1989 still has more plays overall in my iTunes, but I listen to rep quite more often lately. I can’t even compare them cause they’re too different in their imagery and sound. Some songs on 1989 have aged pretty bad tho imo.

It’s better & more interesting by a good amount. 1989 was never anything spectacular outside of the singles.

yes, reputation is her best album. 1989 is great too but it's too generic

They are great!!!

reputation has bit more of a narrative and feels less generic than 1989 but both are amazing

No. It's excellent and honestly seems better with age, but 1989 remains superior. Song highlights like AYHTDWS, Clean, Style, WD, OOTW, etc. will never go out of style.

No. Like, not even remotely. Reputation is quite boring while 1989 stays exciting from beginning to end.

Rep's production is much more expensive, dynamic, textured. 1989 has a few catchier songs than the best on Rep, but overall Rep is the far more interesting (and imo enduring) listen.

reputation had higher highs and lower lows. 1989 is way more consistent.

So 1989 (which won her her second AOTY, not something that is easy to get for everyone) is better.

Both albums are good for different reasons.  I don't even remember what I listened to in 2014 because there was like no pop music except for Ariana...I guess Charli, but then Taylor arrived with 1989 and it stunned me for the whole freshman year of college.  All You Had to Do was Stay>>>>>, New Romantics, Clean.

That Bad Blood remix was not it, though.  Neither was "I Know Places."  I can't stand that angry "I, I, I" she hollers in that song.  :sorry:

reputation is great because Taylor was really in her feelings.  1989 has solid production but I don't think she emotes herself as well as she does in reputation.  NYD, SIG..., Dress, all solid bops.
