And "The Ride" was a great album. I hope she comes back soon :jonny5:

Try aged like fine wine :jonny5:

also the fact she smashed with Turn Off The Light back in 2000, it was so different from anything, I miss her hippie vegan natural mood she served with Whoa, Nelly! era :weeps:

With Loose, just slightly. There were Urban elements (on its way out in the time it was released), and Europop/Dance elements (rising on its time of release).

Whoa Nelly and Folklore are two unique albums that I did enjoy at the time. I wouldn't say it's ahead of its time but they're definitely not like any other on the radio. I think her and India Arie share some similarities but Arie never really took off.

Her discography aged amazingly. Along with Justin Timberlake she launched the Timbaland mania that lasted for the entire second half of the 00s.

yes. she always did her thing, even after Loose, instead of going back to the studio recording another smash, she just released Spanish album that nobody wanted. Even songs like Big Hoops were different, something that would rock on the radio three years ago not in 2012. She really was something different and unique, and still is - The Ride is a great album. I hope she won't take another 8 or so years so release new album.

Hm. I wouldn't say she was ahead of her time but her music (especially the singles) has aged like fine wine.

Powerless and Explode were my jams back then. Try is also one of my favorites. Folklore >>>>>>>

The Spirit Indestructible is a MASTERPIECE and too ahead of its time.

Waiting For The Night, Big Hoops, High Life, Parking Lot  :alexz: >  your basic fave

I love spirit indestructible, she should have chosen Waiting for the night as the lead single for that European smash, the era would be soo different.

Yes, she never sounded like anything on the radio. All of her albums are amazing and creative, she's such an excellent songwriter

She absolutely is.

You know you're a legend when even the Queen of Pop herself is caught off guard by your own amazing reinvention (Loose) and has to try it on herself uncharacteristically late.
