Lil Nas X is running quality control for the whole industry lmao

It's kind of amazing that a no-name rapper has blocked huge names like

Taylor Swift

Ed Sheeran

and Justin Bieber

from getting easy, throw away number ones with weak songs

and ended Ariana's run with 7 rings

lmoa. Equal opportunity

Don’t forget Shawn Mendes and Post Malone.

It's crazy that he has blocked four big artists, but it's disgusting that people on here are pulling the race card just to get a kiiii out of this by labelling Taylor, Shawn and JB/Ed's tracks as white mediocrity. The fake stanning for this song because of that reason isn't ok.

Like, there was NO reason to bring race into this but y'all brought it in anyway. This isn't a thread about politics, it's about MUSIC and all four songs are harmless.

We're happy cause its super refreshing seeing a good, innovative hip hop song blocking generic, uninspired trashy pop songs. If it wasnt for him those 4 white artists would have an underserved #1 song right now to their credit. We are glad it didnt happen and white mediocrity lost.

btw ATRL faggts really thought pop music was back lmfaoo

Race =/= politics, it’s intergrated in every part of life, and not even because of POC themselves but because of white people.

You can’t see race only when it comes to politics and pretend to be colorblind everywhere else. :cm:

The truth is that white mediocrity (white people releasing mediocre songs) would have been #1 without Nas Maraj and for that, we thank him!

Seriously, this is the GROSS part of the fake stanning for OTR that I'm talking about. You're literally labelling this as a race issue in order to stan for the song and not for the song itself.

It's funny, OTR is only so huge because white people complained about it being on the country charts. The domino effect :bibliahh:

Gaga and JoBros narrowly avoided the massacre.

Imagine 2019 having back to back #1s: Taylor ---> Shawn ---> Ed/Justin

If shallow had been blocked by otr

omg

the lashings:ahh:

the bans:lmao:

the meltdowns:eatpopcorn:

but this happens in a streaming world which I don’t get why you all make fun of people that don’t have #1s when it can literally happen at anytime if the time is right.

The people who deserved #1s (Ari, Gaga) got theirs before OTReign :johnald:

Also, what we mean by white mediocrity is:

  • Taylor: Released the worst song of her career with the most atrocious bridge in pop music history. It also features a male artist with the most grating vocals in the industry.
  • Shawn: All his songs sound the same, he's demonstrated 0 artistic growth, and how he managed to crack the top 10 is a mystery in itself :rip:
  • Bieber & Ed: Another generic, trend-chasing song from two of the most bland, unseasoned artists.

So yes, white mediocrity LOST. No one's saying because they're white they don't deserve  a #1. We're simply saying that the mediocre trash they released would've gone #1 without OTR so we're thankful for the quality control.

I hate that meme songs are taking over, but I love the fact that he's blocking generic pop radio filler from boring, overplayed artists from going #1. :ahh:

It's an issue because Billboard closed the doors to country music on him, and now he's slaying white artists who dabble in Urban music and closing the doors on a #1 single.

Daddy Lessons and Formation walked so Lil Nas X and Childish Gambino could run.

OTR only charted on the CAC for 2 nonconsecutive weeks.  It popped back on a second time with 30 adds (actually the most that week), only to fall off again the next week.  MB didn't report even 1 OTR add this week.  If it can't get airplay at a format, even with BRC featured on it, then BB won't put the song on the chart.

Now, with Royals 2013-4, BB had no reason to keep it off of the Urban chart.  If a song is #3 in overall Urban radio airplay chart, and reaches both the Mainstream and the Adult R&B chart, the song should chart.  I brought this up to Gary and Silvio, but they never answered that email (maybe because they recognized they made a mistake).
