99 Greatest Songs of 1999:

1. Britney Spears, "...Baby One More Time" (No. 1, Hot 100)

'Not just a career-making song, the Max Martin-helmed debut single from Britney Spears was a watershed in pop music; like similar game changers from MJ or The Beatles, there is pop prior to "…Baby One More Time," and there is pop thereafter. '

We love acclaim! Songs this game changing do not come often. Apparently "teEn pOp" this well done is respected and appreciated 20 years later.

Did she really? I don´t mean to be shady to please don´t quote to star a stan war but she didn´t really came with a new sound I mean Xtina, NSYNC, Backstreet Boys and Spice Girls already made that sound huge and shaped the sound of that era I believe. Britney definitely defined the era though, an icon, but I don´t see how she shaped pop.
