Streaming is a different way digitally consuming music, and a more efficient and economical way too.

People would still want to buy physical copies because, they're physical and real in their hands, that's much better than using the same money to download a zip file from iTunes. Vinyls will come back and stay here for forever tbh

I think the biggest irony is that Vinyl sales are about to surpass CD sales revenue :deadbanana2:

RIAA

The RIAA reports that 75% of the music industry’s total revenue was indebted to subscriptions to streaming services last year. In 2018, streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Amazon Music, and others reached more than 50 million subscriptions in the United States for the first time. Additionally, vinyl sales saw an increase of 8% from 2017, reaching the format’s highest revenue level since 1988. CD sales dropped 34%. View the full report.

Why?

Because people don't value the hard work of musicians. They are taken for granted and don't want to pay for the hours of sweat and creativity that musicians are putting in.

Ok here we go again

This is NOT saying an individual artist makes 75% of their money from streams.

This is saying that as a collective, more revenue was made from streaming.

The bigger and more known an artist is, this % drops. Someone like Beyonce, Gaga, even Ari have made more $$ from pure sales than streams.

What is the point of still buying music? I’ve been steaming music since like 2011 and have never looked back. Even my 40 year old parents use Spotify now.

She did 70 million streams on the first DAY, only counting Spotify, that would be $616.000,00 only on the first day then (only counting Spotify, worldwide). that's a lot.

This trend is really sad. I still love buying CD's. There's something about going to a store to get a new CD and owning a piece of an artist's work.

atrl only talks about them because they still have a part in the hot 100, albeit it's very reduced compared to only about two years ago now. :michael:
