Why is Celine grouped with Whitney and Mariah vocally?

Why is Celine always grouped in with Mariah and Whitney to make up this "Vocal Trinity" when she's the least technically skilled/musically intelligent out of the three?

If anything, the trinity should be Ella, Aretha, and Barbra

All three of them are on different skill levels and the idea of a vocal trinity is just something that YouTube vocal range video stans pulled out of their asses.

Just because she’s not as technically talented as the other two, doesn’t mean she’s not part of the trinity. You need three people to make a trinity, sis. This ain’t rocket science.

And Céline’s belts are next level. She can sing a sustained note long as hell, she can still sing very well, and her vocal runs are criminally underrated. She’s not as talented as Mariah or Whitney at their vocal peak, but there’s no other singer of that era or in recent memory who could get as close to those two as Céline.

I'm asking why she's grouped with them in the first place, sis.

Queen Bey is only a step or two below Whit and Mariah.

What is this fallacy?? Care to explain.

OT: The idea of vocal trinity is not entirely based on vocals, its also based on commercial success, which the three have shown. While Celine may not be as good technically as the other two (tho I believe she's underrated, in a way that I think she's on par or better than Beyonce), she delivered great vocal skills, and great sales. Why would you not include her in that group considering that they were pretty much tackling the same demographic at one point.

If anything, all three are overrated. They wouldn’t be considered this ‘vocal trinity’ if they didn’t have 200+ million records sold to their name. There are plenty of better singers. They just simply aren’t marketed like these three were. But yes, Celine isn’t as good as the other two.

Because they were all concurrently dominating for the entirety of the 90s so they're all associated with each other.

The disrespect you gays have for legends is honestly sickening. Celine has earned her spot in the vocal trinity.

Listen to her live, actually not even, she's still flat on her records. Clean your ears

Celine was on par vocally with the other two in terms of studio vocals, and could even outsing either one of them live especially Maríah. Mariah was overrated. It's not true that she was vocally untouchable, and Whitney had her fair share of bad technique as well. Mariah's vocals peaked very early and deteriorated so soon that she's nowhere near Celine in live vocal acrobatics starting from the mid-90 onwards. The "vocal trinity" is centered around the idea of mega-successful divas with big powerful voices who sing death-defying MOR ballads which accurately describes all three of them.

They had nearly the same demo and their prestine voices to top it off. Whitneys belts and head voice, Mariahs velvety range and whistles, and Celines stamina and sheer power belts.

Also the way that the 3 of them punched left and right during their primes remains unmatched. mainly Whitney 92-93, Mariah 93-96, Celine 96-99.

this flat out LIE

No one was touching Whitney on a live stage, and as inconsistent as she was, Mariah was going much more difficult stuff live

Whitney didn't have bad technique. Consistency issues in the upper reaches of her middle-voice? Sure. Bad technique, no.

Maintenance of talent =/= greatness of talent.

3 women with beautiful, powerful and recognizable voices that dominated the music industry around the same time. It has little to do with technique...

If u take away the whistle notes from Mariah then Céline is totally on par with her. Whitney is on another level >

Celine is very VERY technically skilled...like insanely so :skull: In fact sometimes she was so technically perfect that it hampered the emotion in her singing which is why i always preferred Whitney's voice because it had more emotion (imo) BUT Celine's skill is insane. Especially in her peak days.

Céline has been "technically skilled/musically intelligent" enough to not lose her voice like the other two did.

And don't even try me because I like "the other two" better, but facts are facts.
