Drake break Apple Music record with 89.9m streams in 24 hrs.

Drake’s latest project More Life was streamed 89.9 million times in its first 24 hours on Apple Music, breaking the single-day album streams record for every music service, Apple tells The Verge. Apple Music far outpaced Spotify, which streamed the album 61.3 million times in its first day, a record for the service.

More Life also helped set records on Beats 1, as Saturday’s episode of OVO Sound Radio was the biggest Beats 1 show to date. Outpacing Spotify by nearly 30 million streams is no easy feat — especially with about 80 million less users — but it looks like Drake’s ties to Apple Music and his radio show on Beats 1 helped push listeners to the service in droves.

As for the top song? “Free Smoke” the first song off the playlist took the top spot on Apple Music. “Portland” and “Passionfruit” round out the top three tracks. More Life is on pace to shatter every streaming record to date — most of which were set by Views, Drake’s last album.

He's done 150m streams in total in just one day off 2 platforms alone.

Tbh it pretty much is considering it was streamed 30 million more times than on Spotify within the first 24 hours. It's actually pretty huge that he's able to accomplish this considering Spotify has MANY more users than Apple Music

If anything this is even more impressive considering that Apple Music isn't the #1 streaming service.

An extreme example would be having the most downloaded song of all time just from Google play downloads, wouldn't that be impressive ?

I'm really trying to figure out when Drake became such a force, it feels like it happened so quickly that I didn't even notice lol. It went from people enjoying him to people adoring him so fast.

The album or whatever was boring and unmemorable. He needs to step it up next year with his next album or there's going to be problems. Two lukewarm albums in a row is already not a good look for him when he has all this power and hype beside him.
