With her name alone, it's not a surprise for me. Well the tour netflix run gave the era its last breath thats for sure, but the era as a whole is so underwhelming. Gone are the radio smashes, the music plug in variety shows (like Showtime!), the enormous social media blitz that she has, basically her omnipresence faded a lot. Ofc she has a huge fanbase so her numbers are going to be high. And honestly, not having a tour here is a huge mistake on Tay's part. Part of why 1989 was so massive here, despite Red's eventual slump is because of the smash tour which underwent tremendous media coverage= promo. 1 hour ago, Taylor fanboy said: $$$$$ Thoughts on Nina? Huge artists from my time (ok that sounded old ) (Mariah and Celine) couldve gotten huge certifications here, based on how they slayed hard here. Adele as well (21 is a go to karaoke song in the remote provinces which proves how massive it was). Bruno, Taylor and Ed do deserve their certification, since they actually had time to visit :(

It's kinda dumb that labels have to pay for them and/or visit the country. Even Taylor's certifications are outdated for the most part. It would make so much more sense that way lol

But then again, Taylor is yet to set foot in the PH but her albums got certified??? therefore i conclude that they're waiting for that blood money from labels to certify albums???? just like how they certify Sam Smith's album..??? in a perfect world with automatic certifications, I'm pretty sure Mariah/Celine/Whitney already collected several diamond albums here

Its all about connections and rent seeking. I mean, we have basic teen wannabes here, homegrown by TV networks, that suddenly get random certifications (like 5x or diamond wtf) without even having a hit or omnipresence in the music scene or airwaves. Meanwhile, we have yet to seen proper certifications for our faves who instantly dominate here. And its not only for western artists, most indie bands or acts that have gotten quite big here dont get proper certifications. I'm sure that Moira Dela Torre (local it girl of 2018) would never get a proper certification if it wasnt for that network signing she did.

Even Delicate was kind of a non event (even tho its her best song on Repu). Look What You Made Me Do reallly brought and killed the hype at the same time. The chorus singlehandedly really killed the era from then on in my opinion. But yeah Taylor is that bitch here.
