Our pop girls were seen laughing

No, they're not. This just shows that pop girls are on their way out. For example, Xtina's 60K didn't do much for her.

Yet my fave always finds a week with competition and gets blocked from #1. :biblio:

They should find a better way to translate streaming into album 'sales'

At this point, it’s the other way around. Translate sales into streams.

They’re on their way out because they’re no longer financially viable. Female artists in general are going to have a tough time because they’re expensive to market and sell.

But they keep living in delusion that sales are relevant. :toofunny2:

owning a copy of an album is a bigger investment than streaming for free

and in case ATRL still hasn't learned from DWUW, streaming exclusive can be taken down at anytime, but if you own a copy, it's your forever :celestial2:

They need to change their rules. This is absurd.

Why? Streams are how the vast majority of people in the world consume music.

With ATRL's logic, TV viewership shouldn't count unless it's on cable (paid) or a paid streaming subscription on Hulu, Netflix, etc. So I guess broadcast TV on the big networks like ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, the CW, PBS, etc. shouldn't count because it's free? :rip:

the big networks' physical tv broadcasts are funded by advertisers

People saying  'Sales are DEAD!!!!   Some artists even Xtina sold over 60,000 albums this year, so 823 isn't representative of the best-selling album right now. This chart should be Album with most popular singles on Spotify/Apple Music.  Albums with decent sales barely chart anymore.

Why? Streaming is the most relevant reflection of popular music right now.

The weight on the chart is too high. They need to reduce the %.
