Achilles. Posted February 11 Here’s the tea! Thanks to her win for “Babe,” Taylor Swift managed to retain sole custody of the top slot on the leaderboard. Runner-up on our cummulative winners list Kendrick Lamar also added one trophy to his collection for an even dozen. Cardi B added to last year’s Best Rap Performance (“Bodak Yellow”) win with two new accolades for her debut era. Meanwhile, Janelle Monae and Mariah Carey both went from one-time winners to three-time winners this year. Nicki Minaj and Childish Gambino also earned their second trophies this year. Lady Gaga doubled her number of wins courtesy of “Shallow.” Kacey Musgraves likewise doubled her number of wins and launched into our top 5 overall winners. Her win for Album of the Year is the fifth time one of our general field winners has matched the actual Grammys. A full list can be found below. Speaking of the general field, Kacey Musgraves and Ariana Grande both joined the list of artists with multiple top category wins. Grande previously won Song of the Year for “Into You,” while Musgraves took home Best New Artist at our inaugural ceremony. Of the six artists with multiple general field wins, Grande is the only one not to have an Album of the Year accolade. See below for the full list. Isn't it crazy how he's second? I know a lot of that is because he sweeps the rap category year after year, but his Song of the Year win last year is still one of the most satisfying surprising we've ever had. supaspaz Posted February 11 3 hours ago, Tom Vercetti said: Looks like this and the actual Grammys were in sync with AOTY. So now we've matched Best New Artist three times (sort of), plus Album of the Year and Song of the Year, but never Record of the Year. Posted February
Wonderland Posted February 11 Look at that we nailed AOTY I just knew Kacey would get it deep down. But I kept doubting the possibility. I should've put more weight on her CMA win... I don't think I really considered how big of a deal that was considering she received 0 airplay support from mainstream country. Plus with more nominees it favours smaller genres with a unifed, single entry to pick even moreso than before. Posted February
supaspaz Posted February 11 So who did it better? Achilles. Posted February 11 Honestly, I do think we had better winners across the board this year. But I kinda still prefer the real Grammys for the sole reason that they nominated Brandi Carlile in the big three categories and let her sweep her genre field (which I know we don’t have, but still). Not nominating “The Joke” for SOTY was a gross oversight on our part. Posted February
