Is germany not into international acts or pop girls? (can anyone elaborate)

We are one of the hardest markets for pop girls in the world, if not the hardest.

It's a combination of a strong German music scene and a more varied music taste - not just pop-focused and more embracing of songs that don't become hits anywhere else, I'd say.
