As we all know, the 4th incarnation of ASIB was organically suppose to have Beyonce play Ally in 2011. However, the project ending up falling through and the version we know today is the final product. Would ASIB be as acclaimed (91 on RT/ 88 on MC) and successful (220k albums sold first week and 100 million in the box office in 2 weeks) If Beyonce starred it in it? Would it be even bigger? Discuss.

I think so. Clint Eastwood’s work is generally well received by critics

doubt it would’ve been more successful or acclaimed than this version tho!

No Lady Gaga is a more talented actress and musician. It’s the authentic music and acting that Gaga produced which makes the film so good. Beyoncè wouldn’t be able to do that not even with her usual sea of songwriters and producers helping her.

Also the Clint and Bradley versions are completely different projects from one another, unless you wanna count the also scrapped Jlo version from 2002 as having been first choice before Beyonce too

There are like 5 threads exactly like this.

Why monsters don't go outside to watch ASIB again? This is just ridiculous.

it would be an entirely different movie if beyonce was involved, so it’s hard to speculate

imagine a black girl punching a cop at a cop bar like gaga does in the movie? the movie’s very white-washed and every character of color is there to act in service to the white protagonists

Let's not pretend it's one sided lol. Bey fans have been bitter about ASIB for the past two weeks.

OT: I think the movie would, but as talented as Bey is musically I don't think she's a good actress. She would get a lot of bad reviews.

No. Gaga had just as much influence on ASIB as Bradley whether it’s songwriting or recording the music live in a single take. That’s one of the many reasons why this one worked and why the soundtrack exceded expectations and predictions. The film would have not performed well and Beyoncé already had two major attempts at acting and she did not follow through

Perhaps this is why voice acting might be best for her after all cause in truth Beyoncé is nothing without the people she hires. Nothing wrong with that since she has the money but Gaga is a lot more independent than Beyoncé and is a lot more receptive to the media than Beyoncé who shies away from the camera and paparazzi. Like no way she was gonna play Ally or Esther and seem genuine about it because it’s not the life she lived at all. Gaga could channel her own experiences into the movie, Beyoncé’s dad hired backup singers to bolster Beyoncé’s profile so that she could eventually go solo

why make a comparison to a movie that doesn't exist?

Because OGHs want to get Gaga dragged hence why the OP is a Katy stan.

the movie is about country rockstars, what do you expect?

There's actually many supporting characters of color thanks to Gaga.
