Cute

Do you support Quebecs independance from Canada?

I have opposed Quebec separatism I n the past but now I realize Canada is literally a dump. So I plan on assimilating into Québécois culture which will be easy because I already speak french and am part of the Catholic Church. The only thing I will need to adjust myself to is the socialism

Canadians and non-Canadians what do you think? Should Quebec leave or stay within the confederation of provinces who altogether disrespect Quebec language and culture?..

Ddddd Parisian French people told me my French was serviceable, and people in Quebec had no problems with my French but Montrealeans scoffed at my attempt to speak French. They are snobs even to people who try to embrace their culture. I’d have thought the cities with higher French culture would be more critical of me but no, it’s the half Anglo half francophone that hated me more.

Which is why I was surprised that happened to me. I don’t care if you don’t believe me but nobody in Paris nor Quebec City rolled their eyes at me when I tried to converse in French.

If you make Montreal a city-state maybe :rip: I've lived here my whole life and as I've gotten older, I realize how much of a dump this province truly is. That's 20 years of experiencing corruption, racism, xenophobia, etc. Montreal isn't so bad the second you leave the city the trailer trash jumps out.

If Quebec leaves Canada they're going to lose everything. When language laws came in decades ago, major corporations packed their stuff up and moved to Toronto and we haven't been able to recover since. I can't imagine how bad things would get if they were to run the show themselves. Simply put, we don't have the resources to sustain ourselves and we can't rely on outside sources because no one wants to invest their businesses in this province because French-speakers make up such a small population compared to other languages in the world of commerce (English, Mandarin). The domino effect would kick in and funding for public services would be slashed even more than it already is.

Okay that's great for you but what about the millions of English speakers here? If Quebec separates you can bet that thousands of our top programs would shut down, especially related to schools. Research funding at McGill, for example, would take an even bigger blow (which cause it to drop in the ranks).

It just doesn't make sense to uphold dated values and traditions in such a drastic way. There are ways to preserve one's culture without making poor executive and political decisions that result in the haemorrhaging of money :rip:
