Why 1989 counted with Pure sales only? ?

no, it's only missing the first 4 weeks of 1989's sales (2.3m) since those were pre-SPS era. The album is certified 9x Platinum by RIAA tho.

I'm confused. Why does it say SPS, but only 1989's pure sales are counted?

It's not only pure sales, as stated on my post above.

The new Billboard formula (SPS era) started on December 13, 2014 issue, so that's why it's missing the first 4 weeks.

Same case as 1989, ME was released in August, so it's missing the first 4 months of sales (16 wks) prior to December 13, 2014, around 490k, plus only counts the weeks the album was in the BB200.
