So, I'm a member on UKMIX and I was rummaging through multiple archived threads when I came across the following posts.

This is from September 2009.

Congrats Mariah Carey for #1 song of the decade. Very much deserved and so much better than I Gotta Feeling. No song has garnered the most success and praise across all formats and media types. Also #11 is not too bad, if she/label made beter single choices she'll easily be in the Top 10.

For Artist of the Decade.

It was always going to be Eminem vs Usher. Eminem is only #1 because he came into the scene right at the early 00s where album sales were still strong and he had a string of strong singles.

Usher unfortunately didn't do that well with his last album, that's where he lost the Artist of the Decade Award.

Though for me, in terms of relevance for the past half decade, it's definately Beyonce who rules.

Next decade is going to be interesting, who knows how it's going to pan out though.

Though i think the early next first half decade will probably belong to either;

* Beyonce (she will own the Hot 100 in the early 10s following IASF. Fact.)
* Lady Gaga (she's a phenomenon right now. Phenomenons don't slow down. She'll be ruling well into the late 2010's.

* Justin Timberlake (depending on how his next album goes but no male is taking his crown yet)

At this rate, Susan Boyle would probably beat them all.

Taylor Swift for me is not a defining artist at all. Her singles are not chart toppers nor will i think she'll turn out to be a mega-star on the level of Beyoncé or Britney. She's a teenage Carrie underwood and Fearless is a fluke.

Cyrus, hell no. She'll never have success after this era at all.

There's no telling where Rihanna's career will head. After the start of this recent era, it looks to be going downhill, fast. Her mammoth success with GGGB was a fluke. She's sold millions because of that album (and the one before it because of multiple hit singles) but so did Debbie Gibson in the late 80s. She'll be a Black version of her. Her career will be forgotten by 2010 or 2011 at best.

Britney is the only one that you list that can compare to Beyonce, Gaga and Timberlake.

tbh tho Rihanna seemed poised to flop after the Rated R era.

but kween came back PUNCHING with the Only Girl - What's My Name? - S&M combo pop music could literally never recreate that kind of slayage

serving more successful Dangerous Woman era teas.

I mean she came from GGGB and tanked in comparison with RR. she was bound to go on a downhill streak.

too bad avon lady had talent and luck on ha side and came back SMASHING thru the gates.
