Rihanna needs 1-2 more successful eras to pass Mariah, Whitney and Janet!

Only Madonna will be ahead of her!

I wanna know Britney's and xtina's totals @iHype.

Wow @ the backfire. You really thought you were on to something, huh?

Britney Spears - 4,716,578

Christina Aguilera - 4,290,078

Not bad despite competing with so many payola-driven acts in the early 2000s :clap3:

Rhythm Nation has 4,737,012 total points. I wonder if that album is bigger than Britney and Xtinas entire career. :celestial5:

Welp, now you have that answer :eli:

I'm suprised. Thought Adele, Ariana, Shakira, Britney, JLo and Bieber would've been on here at as well.

American charts are dependent on airplay. Keep in mind this measures inverse-chart points (meaning you gather points based on position, not based on how much your music was consumed) so slow-moving and multi-format airplay songs are going to gain the most points (see: artists with crossover radio appeal being near the top with pop/rhythmic/urban artists like Rihanna, Mariah, Whitney and Janet and HAC/AC/pop artists right under them like Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, etc.).

J. Lo is actually surprising, though. She had radio payola but I guess the features on her work stopped her from making it.

Rihanna became ridiculously successful in such a short period of time!

She is still so young!!!

how does the point system work? is it like #1 = 100 points, so 10 weeks at #1 = 1000 points?

Yes. Every position gives you a certain amount of points. Not sure how many points though.

Clock ha!

That third album did not contribute to her ranking. :rip: If anything, it dropped her position.

How did it worsen her position if it did not contribute? :rip:

Abdul's third album contributed absolutely NOTHING to her all-time Hot 100 rankings.

Her current placement stems from the singles from the 'Forever Your Girl' and 'Spellbound' eras alone, especially the latter.

'R,R' was the longest running number one of 1991 and the longest running number one song for several years up to that point. That was massive for the time.

Well, just because it flopped it doesn't mean it doesn't count.

Approximately what position would Ariana be after this era assuming no more singles?

I think she will enter Top70 soon. The past year has been massive for her on the Hot100.

Only 7 months to go for Mariah to collect some extra points with - hopefully - another 4 weeks in the top 10 on the H100.

@iHype. any chance Shallow was big enough to get Gaga into the top 50?

I wonder where Normani will end up in 5-10 years if she keeps these slow burners up.

Yes, I know she's only released two charting singles..... but:

Love Lies: 51 weeks + #9 Peak

Dancing With A Stranger: 11 weeks (and counting) + #17 Peak (and counting)

This is a pretty good start.

Barely, since she´ll get only 50% of its points because it was a joint album/single.

Anyway, Rihanna is nowhere close to surpass Madonna. That won't happen, she´d need to emulate the 50% of her entire career. Quite impossible at this point.
