the callouts are improving because familiarity is improving, which also affects callout scores (not just pos/neg ratings) which is why songs start lower and then rise   

 

NRO's callouts aren't amazing but it still has a higher potential because it has generally low familiarity

Oh so we’re not allowed to celebrate radio success(payolad or not)  even if it helps with the song’s longevity? Stop telling others what to do. If you’re mad at labels paying radio stations then stop projecting that anger towards fans.

OT: also didn’t ed sheeran’s cross me have high familiarity and high burn rate so it fizzled quickly? I think nro had better odds in that part.

Cross Me actually has a lower familiarity than NRO but it does have a higher burn score so people who are hearing it are already tired of it

Use the Potential score, it's more useful to see what's the near future of the song. Pop Score takes in account the fammiliarity, giving most popular songs a big advantage. Pop Score is more a current total of the song's sucess on the chart, if you're now you don't have a chance because you're not "known" enough. I prefer Potential score because it just considers: Net Reaction, Favoritism and Heavy Burnout, which in my opinion it's more useful.

Me too. It’s massive on every metric around the world so the GP clearly loves the song. I feel like even if the callouts are bad it won’t matter seeing as though it’s Top 5 on iTunes, Spotify, YouTube etc in the US. @Mediabase any tea?

Anyways, I've been laughing at people using callout scores as receipts for a long time, not just now that Katy is doing horrible numbers yet getting good updates, so this isn't an anti-Katy thing. I'm just pointing out how callout scores are irrelevant.

Yeah I think it was because of the sample they used from the song which turned off a lot of people because it was the fast part of the chorus which was polarizing. Otherwise, almost everyone who has heard the song has praised it.

And yeah, she’s getting good updates because radio is playing her song. We can't blame them if they continue to play it, just because the callouts are bad.

I 100% agree with that, I would love to see if it has an impact if they changed the sample section they use for the survey, which will never happen

Sometimes you claim radio plays songs because they're doing great on streaming, or because they're callout scores are good, but what's your excuse for Never Really Over? It's #55 on Spotify weekly chart, #32 on iTunes, getting less than 400k daily views, and it's getting horrible callouts. If you really think the reason behind the sudden radio boost is the fact that callout scores went from horrible to a bit less horrible, you're delusional.  

the irony  you're the one complaining daily about radio playing NRO despite bad callouts. just deal with it. you certainly care more about its updates than me. Maybe you can start complaining tweeting each station not to play it if that makes you feel better.

 

You're calling me delusional when I've never claimed NRO plays are "organic" or whatever. I just pointed how callouts tend to affect longevity more + the way you're biased cause you keep fuming about NRO updates but you keep your mouth shut about Panic!'s song when it's lower on iTunes and #174 on Spotify.  but that's not a problem for you right?

Now she’s obviously not getting horrible scores but they are also not good enough to keep her songs in the Top 10 of Pop radio for moooonths. And radio is obviously forced to play them cause she does well on other metrics. (Especially streaming, aka the most important and relevant one).
