I'm almost certain that Meant To Be is the first song to chart on BB's Country and Rhythmic charts at the same time. She and FGL are top 3 in Country, Hot AC, and Country. She's also slowly climbing then and AC, Rhythmic, and Dance/Remix shows charts top potential for MTB.

We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together achieved this.

October 13, 2012:

#38 - Rhythmic

#21 - Country

You're Still the One also achieved this.

I guess Gary will correct me. Still, MTB is on six very varied BB airplay charts. It's on Country, Top 40, HAC, AC, Rhythmic, and on the Dance Airplay chart. Hunt's Back Road failed to reach Rhythmic, though he performed strongly on Country, HAC, and AC.

The only song I can think of that reached more airplay charts, 7 or 8 is Kid Rock's "All Summer Long." It first charted at Active Rock, Heritage Rock, Alternative, AAA (I think) Country, Top 40, HAC, and AC.

Had Rock not taken such a hard stance against ITunes (which he reversed earlier in the 2010s), he probably would've had a #1 song. He peaked at #3 on Radio Songs, but just 23 overall. In fact, two cover versions that were available on ITunes actually peaked in the Top 20 with virtually zero airplay.

The way that Whatever It Takes is still stuck at #11 and more than a thousand spins away from top 10 on pop :deadbanana4:

Guess it'll take another week or so in order to pass Perfect.

It’s still so weird how slow and out of touch radio is with streaming aka the real-time actual charts

We have had this debate way too many times.

Pop radio won't and shouldn't play rap music :cm:

Rap music IS pop music. Most of rap music is melodic nowadays. People like Post Malone and Migos are considered “rappers” when they’re essentially just pop singers. Pop = popular. Pop radio used to play multiple genres across the board and now they only play the generic manufactured wonderbread people that nobody even wants or chooses to listen to. Pop music isn’t dictating popular culture, RAP music is. The hip-hop artists are the ones that people actually pay attnetion to, the same way they did for Gaga and Katy Perry 8 years ago. Times have changed. And I say this as a fully popgirl stan. There’s no reason why “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran should still be Top 10 on radio. It needs to move faster overall. I remember a few months ago Strip that Down and Slow Hands being like, 1 & 2 on radio, yet not even Top 10 on streaming or sales. I remember thinking “wtf?” That to me just screams out of touch programmers.

They never shouldve allowed Clear Channel/iHeart Media to happen, this is why it moves so damn slow and biased. One company essentially dictates everything :skull:

The audiences for radio and streaming aren't exactly the same so it's fine that there's discrepancy but yeah some massive discrepancies sometimes

You can't say that radio is out of touch for playing song that don't do well on streaming. radio had a different demographic than streaming so naturally different songs will do well. and it's not like they just play random song that they just feel like, radio is in constant contact with their audience to optimize what they spin. If a radio would actually gain something from just spinning the top 50 spotify chart surely they would just do that, it's a competetive business after all.

and pop music does not equal popular music, not anymore. we have small acts making pop music and it'll still be pop even though they aren't popular, like if Kim Petras and Sigrid aren't making pop idk what they are making. and rock songs don't become pop songs just cause they are very popular, like???

Pop music will always equate to popular music. That’s literally it’s definition. Urban music was huge in the early 2000’s the same way it is now, but it wasn’t nearly as snubbed on the format.

They play rhythmic/hip-hop/r&b hits that crossover basically, right now we have in top 20: Finesse, God's Plan, Pray For Me, All The Stars, I think Love. and YD&B also reached top 20, Him & I and Let You Down were also big Rhythmic hits.

There are rhythmic, alternative, edm, electro-pop, ballads, pure pop, and even a country-pop song so I don't get the complains, top 40 radio has variety right now. :celestial5:

I agree with you, thank GOD they don't dare to play ****ty mumble rap! :mazen:

Imagine if this: https://www.billboard.com/charts/on-demand-songs was what top 40 were playing right now (I think I would shoot my radio :biblio:) and top 40 radio industry would go broke lol :skull:
