The Best Advice They Ever Got

If you look at your career as a graph chart, Perry says, don’t get hung up on all the highs and lows. Instead, “it’s about staying on the graph and making sure every move is authentic.” Her friend, alt-rocker Alanis Morissette, advised her to be transparent—so that whenever anyone looked at her career, anywhere on that graph, they’d look through it and see the “real” her.

How Failure Has Fueled Them

“I’m learning all the time; everything turns into a lesson for me,” says Perry. Last year, when she radically changed her look and took a more futuristic pop approach with her fourth album, Witness, she got mixed reviews. “I’m starting to realize that, after doing this a decade and reaching the highest heights, nobody is going to hit the bull’s-eye every single time,” she says.

Save As Draft, Miss You More, Tsunami and black hair extentions could've saved the era.

She “just started” to realise? Lmao every artist should know that they aren’t going to continue having peak after peak. Katy’s been in the business long enough to know that audiences are fickle.

Talking like it was a super experimental record or something. Bitch, Witness it's your typical Katy Perry album but full of bad songs.

At least she’s taking this as a time to reflect. This can only make her better.

Although, it makes me worried about what will happen to her artistry. She basically did the same album three times in a row (same sound, same producers etc.) and then she finally changes things up a bit like fans have been saying and she flops. She might feel like she needs to revert back to that part of her career and try to emulate that again.

CTTR/BA/SS were a trifecta. She did the right thing.

This myth. She releasing the only possible singles on the album. But only CTTR was worthy. If even.
