Which is why the RIAA is pointless and innacuratem. It doesn't matter how official it is, without automatic updates it will always be wrong.

Yup I agree! I love the BRIT certification system

Monica's at 15 million but I found Aaliyah's certifications only at 9,5. Could you do a breakdown for me please?

I meant where was Aaliyah’s placement in general on the list considering per RIAA and Billboard, she sold more pure albums than Monica despite the fact Monica’s team over-shipped and over-certified her albums/records.

Updated with the new certifications.

Nicki Minaj and Carrie Underwood are getting closer to Top 3 (for Nicki) and Top 10 respectively (for Carrie).

Kesha is moving one spot and is closer to Top 30 while surpassing Demi Lovato (who also got one certification but fell one spot). Halsey moves two spots thanks to "Him & I" being re-certified.

Lastly, Alessia Cara is the newest addition to the list - debuting at #55 with 15,5 million records sold.

The thing is, with TEA + SEA now counting in album certifications newer acts and acts that have re-certified are essentially double dipping...

Colbie Caillat - 9 million

Tove Lo - 8 million

Kelsea Ballerini - 4.5 million

just in case you want more entries.

New update. Nicki Minaj and Kehlani are non-movers. Nicki is sitting comfortably at #4 and is nearing the gap not only for 100M certified records but is also getting closer to Katy who is #3. As for Kehalni - she is still basically at the bottom of the list.

Movers:

Selena Gomez moves to #17 thanks to certification of "Back To You" surpassing Janet Jackson and also 40M records

Camila Cabello is moving two spots surpassing Carly Rae Jepsen and Ciara

Selena is still so undercertified!

This. It's a crime.

Also, is Gaga uncertified? I could've sworn she had slightly bigger numbers?

Almost all these females are highly undercertified.

Rihanna and Sia remain stable thanks to certifications of a songs they are featured on.

On the other hand, Christina Aguilera moves to Top 20 thanks to re-certification of "Moves Like Jagger" - she's now #19.

The biggest jump goes to Halsey also thanks to certifications of a song which is not hers - "Closer" being certified Diamond enables Halsey move to #30 spot for now.

Just imagine if HWR updated Sel’s certs!

For starters, she’d increase her album certs from 2,5M to probably 6,5M and singles well, LYLALS and C&GI are close to (if not eligible for) 6x Plat and 5x Plat respectively. A couple of her singles 4x Plat too.

Katys albums :deadbanana:

She has never been an albums artist tbh. Look at the singles instead though....100M+ with only 4 albums.

Huge update with a lot of movements.

First of all, Cardi B managed to move 13 spots above and is now #25 on overall list thanks to almost her whole album being certified.

Also, what's notable is Bebe Rexha's movements: + 7 spots right at #45 for now.

Both Shakira and Becky G were certified as well (Latin) but went lower due to Miranda Lambert and Ellie Goulding entering the list (also due to their updated certifications). Ella Mai also debuted but is at the last spot.

As for non-movers, Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé stay stable inside Top 5 and Top 20 respectively.

Album certifications are worth 10 times more than single certifications, so why are we combining them as if they're worth the same?

She probably stays as she is since RCA treated her like she was nothing when she was signed with them. And now when she is with Atlantic they couldn't care less.

Because they're both certifications by RIAA. I decided to create this thread and in my opinion it's reasonable to have both singles and albums included. I don't see nothing wrong.

Just because they're both forms of RIAA certifications, it doesn't mean they are worth the same thing and should be included. They are separated on RIAA's website for a reason.

A platinum album certification is worth ~$10,000,000 of pure album sales or 1.5 billion streams (1 album unit = 1500 streams)

A platinum single certification is worth ~$1,000,000 of pure single sales or 150M streams (1 single unit = 150 streams)

Album certifications are mathematically worth 10 times more than single certifications. Combining them as if they're equal makes no sense.
