"Thriller" certified 33X Platinum in the US

Michael Jackson's Thriller has become the first album certified 33x Diamond for United States sales and streams. Thinking about how to redecorate the offices to fit the new artwork are, from left, Sony Music CEO Doug Morris, Columbia Records Chairman & CEO Rob Stringer, Estate Co-Executor John Branca, Commercial Music Group President Richard Story, Epic RecordsChairman & CEO L.A. Reid and the Jackson Estate’s Karen Langford. Alternative fact: Doug Morris scored higher than Rob Stringer at Sony’s annual “Moonwalk” competition.

How much did it sell in year 1983 and 1984? Damn he went from Platinum in 83 to 20x Platinum (diamond) at the end of 84 :deadbanana3:

Yup! The more recent certifications include streaming now.

33 times diamond would be 330,000,000. I think they meant 33 times multi-platinum. Congratulations, though. :clap3:

Yes, that's correct. I had to look at RIAA to confirm. 33X Diamond would be insane :lmao:

Absolutely incredible.

P.S. Is there any way to see a breakdown of Prince's album sales particularly "1999; Purple Rain; Parade etc."?

The last certification for Purple Rain from the RIAA was in 1996 for 13X Platinum.

We both know she'll get there too. :gaycat3:

No, because Thriller was 2x Diamond by the end of 84.

21 is only Diamond . There's no way it will sell 20 million more copies past its prime run.
