Friends Returns To TV

The wildly popular sitcom is returning to television after each of its six stars agreed multi-million dollar deals to star in four one-hour specials.

Seminal sitcom Friends is returning to television after each of its six stars agreed multi-million dollar deals to star in four one-hour specials.

In a secret meeting before Christmas (2005), Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry reportedly agreed a $5 million apiece deal with NBC bosses in Los Angeles.

Scriptwriters have already started penning lines for the four double episodes, which are due to air next year (2006).

Aniston, who has filmed a string of movies since the final Friends episode, was the last to agree to the new deal.

An NBC insider says, "She's the one who had been holding out. But she's now agreed to reprise Rachel (Green)."

"Bringing them back is a dream come true. Ratings will go through the roof."

Network bosses have also hinted at a second spin-off of the hit comedy, following the disappointing performance of Matt LeBlanc's show Joey. The new program will see the three male stars - Perry, Schwimmer and LeBlanc - pilot a series called It's A Guy Thing.

An NBC spokesperson confirms, "Negotiations on future projects are going on all the time."

I think its a smart move on NBC's part to bring them back, I like the idea. Personally, if money and ratings would have it, just bring them back for another whole season, or just produce 4-5 "special" episodes a year, and let all the actors continue to do movies, shows,etc.

As for the "It's a Guy Thing," I'm feeling it, but it seems desperate, and they already have Four Kings. I would leave that alone.

As for "Joey," I see it having another Season, then ending.

its sad i know, but god im glad haha. NBC was becoming worse and worse, the only somewhat watchable things were scrubs and mr name is earl.

I dont know whether to be HAPPY or sad that NBC is being desperate.

I kinda think its a bad thing cuz they left on TOP!!! (50 million viewers baby.) If they get ANYTHING less than 20 million I will be sad.

I'm kinda happt about this! It's not like Friends is some piece of art that I wish they didn't play with...it's a sitcom, so I see no harm in coming back for a bit more. Could be good! No coffee house or apartment though? I wonder how this will impact 'Joey' too.

lol, NBC is so freakin' desperate for some good ratings

and i think is a stupid idea, it shows that NBC doesn't have good ideas anymore

NBC should be aware that resorting to such desperate tactics so soon might hurt their image when they should just be creative and take some risks and not make a billion spin offs and reunion shows based on past success. So many of the replacement shows have flopped because they are trying to duplicate something. They have to make INTRIGUING shows.

I think it's kinda sad for the actors. I mean, when you end with something. It's done!, but now they're coming back.

Jennifer Anniston will never meet success with a movie carreer if she sticks with this.

I wish radio DJ's would stop reporting lies/gossip as fact.

I didn't think it was true anyway. Jennifer Aniston is waaaay too focused on her movie career to go back to Friends.
