Yes it's a successful cartoon with a story driven plot that managed to reach a wide demographic and it was on NICKELODEON none the less
i think it brought some aspects of anime more mainstream

This show is probably one of the most well-written cartoons in the history of television. The ability of the writers to balance child-like appeal and mature, adult concepts and themes was spectacular. That was what made it appeal to all age groups.
No cartoon, not even its successor, can match it's impact.
