She wasn't going to fly on a red eye to walk a red carpet and attend an award show when she has nothing to promote, even if she were nominated for a few awards, it's not like she couldn't accept them via satellite, especially since she already has plenty of other VMAs on her shelf.

They changed the date before Gaga said she wasn't going.. So it's not 100% confirmed that this wasn't the reason. Who knows, maybe they found out she wasn't going and changed the noms

No, most VMAs from 2006 to the 1st one were on Wednesday or Thursday
