Why are Rihanna's albums so mediocre?
I just spent two hours listening to Loud and Talk That Talk and I found myself skipping most of the non-album tracks. They just go on and on - nothing stands out.
Each album sounds like it has three good songs (which are quickly released as singles) and eight bad ones. If she can make three good songs, why can't she make 11? Is her potential so severely restricted?
Look at Beyonce - 4 was a filler free album if there was ever one.
Please do not bring up sales. It does not answer the question. And neither does a picture of Discipline.

I forget who explained how to build a Rihanna album? In one of these threads
Put in 2 electro house songs
Then add in 3 R&B/hip hop gems
A couple rock songs
A few dubstep songs
3 ballads
1 experimental song

Personally to me the only Rih album that I skip alot are her 2 first albums
GGGB - Has Basically no fillers
RR - depends on your mood something you just skip them all, sometimes you don't
LOUD - Has 3fillers (Raining Men,Fading,Complicated)
TTT Only filler for me is We All Want Love
But I think it's because her albums go from Urban to Dance-Pop,some people only like her Urban music some only like her DancePop music.Maybe you prefer one of her side more than the other

I have a totally different view - I think her albums have excellent replayability months after they come out. And I actually think her albums have very few filler. Loud has none for me & TTT's is Roc Me Out definitely, maybe Farewell & Red Lipstick.
I hope this thread is kept open. This is a good discussion though.

I don't think that's the case, because her singles show some versatility - she does her ballads, the more urban ones, the club smashes. I like them all. And then you have a track like... Roc Me Out...

I dunno, it seems like a lot of her album tracks have less thought put into them than the singles.

She honestly averages 4-5 good songs every album. The rest are forgettable.
