This is not trying to shade either one of them. I like most of Rihanna's music and I like most of Stargate's work with her. With that said people often times criticize(d) Gaga and Perry for their over reliance on Red One and Dr. Luke. Recently we found out Rihanna is working with Stargate again for her 7th studio album(8th, if you count GGGB:R). That will make 6 albums that Stargate has produced songs on for Rihanna. He has produced Unfaithful, We Ride, Don't Stop The Music, Hate That I Love You, Good Girl Gone Bad, Take A Bow, Cry, Wait Your Turn, Stupid In Love, Rude Boy, Te Amo, Only Girl, What's My Name, S&M, Talk That Talk, Drunk On Love, and Roc Me Out. He has produced more hit songs with Rihanna than Gaga has with Red One.

Anyway, I'm not shading Rihanna or Stargate. I'm just curious whether people think that she should move onto other producers now that (by this fall) they will have worked together on 6 albums and spawning tons of hits? Or should they just continue working together making music and hit songs?

Personally, I'm getting kind of tired of Stargate. I didn't really like his work on LOUD other than WMN and I found his stuff on TTT to be subpar.

nah i think in this day and age artists often form close working relationships with 1 or 2 specific producers who help model their sound. she doesnt rely on stargate, they just have a good history together and clearly make plenty of smashed when they have studio time

Katy makes great music with Dr. Luke just as Rihanna makes great music with StarGate. Both producers give their best work to the respective artists.

Most artists have someone that gives them their base, soem artists change that with every album (Nelly Furtado etc.) and others stay with the same person Britney (Max Martin/Dr. Luke), Ke$ha (Dr. Luke), Gaga (RedOne etc.), Mohombi (RedOne), Rihanna (Stargate) etc.

Why fix something that isn't broken...

I think she doesn't get criticized as much because Stargate's type of sound varies a lot. It doesn't sound the same like most of Lukes work.

Them working together isn't a problem as Stargates productions are not a rehash over and over again when they work with her. Whereas with RedOne and Gaga, "Just Dance/Bad Romance/Poker Face/Judas" and others all sound the same, or pretty similar.

Her and Stargate work well together and deliver smash after smash. Why mess with something that works well?

I want her to keep working with Stargate, as I love their songs. And they mostly sound completely different (apart from a few, like Only Girl and S&M which sound fairly similar to each other).

See, if Stargate had repetitive remakes of song over and over, it'd be one thing. But Stargate always seems to give us something different every time, so there's nothing wrong with that.

I actually quite enjoy Stragate's production. Very solid and consistent pop/R&B producer tbh.
