Bro, it's not about learning the lyrics, it's about understanding them.
I could try to spit Busta's Look At Me Now verse and would quickly turn into a pile of gibberish because I can't keep up, even if I have the lyrics right in front of me. However, just listening to the song on the radio, even though he's spitting fast, I can still make out every word he's saying without looking up the lyrics.
That's what we're talking about.

Yes
Now what I can't understand is her verse in MIA's Bad Girls
I'm learning lessons to make mistakes
. . .If I get burned, no embers break.
You told me I'm my destiny
. . . While your power gets the best of me..
Repeatedly, I get neglected.
. . .You claim that I am unperfected..

Really though, I do think it's a bit of a problem. Azealia's lyrics are great, but the diction is holding her back.
Example: Liquorice is my second favorite Banks song after 212, because I love the beat, I love the way her flow sounds, and I love the only line I can understand, "I'm the liquorice bitch. You know I'm lookin' for these n*ggas if these n*ggas is rich." Other than that line (and the singing bits), I don't know what she's saying and I've never bothered to look it up because honestly, the song's so hot that I don't care.
But once I saw someone on here post the lyrics "N*ggas really wanna beat their chest for B-A-N-K-S. These n*ggas be gorillas for the pin-k flesh." I had no idea where that was from, googled it, and found out it was the opening line to the song I've been bopping to for weeks.
And that lyric is really good too. Rhyming "-N-K-S" with "pin-k flesh"... using "pin-k flesh" as way to refer to her ***. Lol, it's a cool lyric, and I would have completely missed it, had I not read it.
That's all I'm saying. Now let me go bop to Liquorice.

No, and I will be happy when this being ''nonsensical for attention'' trend stops.

That's the only way I figured out anything she is saying in liquorice, and now I can rap along to the first verse.

That's because you've heard it a shitload of times on the radio.
I can hear every syllable in **** Up The Fun. I agree the old version, I couldn't, but with the remaster for Fantasea they managed to bring it the detail in the voice. I dunno what to tell you guys, you just have tobe completely focused on it. It's fast.

How is that her diction and not you just not paying attention? Other people were quoting those lines all over the place and I promise you most people didn't need lyrics for those first two lines.
If you're only going to half-listen to a girl with a really fast flow, like in the background while you type on ATRL, of course you're not going to catch every word she's saying.

I think the line between a listener not paying attention and a rapper having a diction problem is too thin to debate, guys.

Tha first tha last verse isn't that hard to understand, tha second verse though dlkjfdlksajfdlkajf i just kinda assume tha song is about gold digging base on tha singing part. like sometime although u know what shes saying, u still cant understand tha meaning behind her lyrics though but they're rhyme lol

Liquorice is about celebrating black/dark-skinned girls, and interracial relationships of all flavors.
Also ha *****.
