TARGET Refuse To Sell Frank Ocean’s ‘Channel Orange’
Quote:
As was to be expect, Frank Ocean‘s sexuality-baring letter has in many ways served as both a gift and a curse to the artist.
For while the ‘revelation’ has seen his art garner attention like never before, he has also found himself at the receiving end of what some might call ‘homophobic propaganda’.
Propaganda, which if a member of his team is to be believed, has led to his debut album being blacklisted by the retail company ‘Target‘.
Unsettling story below…
His representative Christian Clancy is reported to have tweeted:
Target has refused to carry Franks album because of Itunes exclusive. Interesting since they also donate to non equal rights organizations.
What Clancy is referring to is Target’s reported support of Far Right Republican Tom Emmer in 2010.
Emmer, who is believed to have received a sum of $150,000 from the company, is most renown for his controversial stance on LGBT issues which saw him spawn the following in 2008:
Muslims are calling for the executions of homosexuals in America… they themselves are upholding the laws that are even in the Bible of the Judeo-Christian God, but they seem to be more moral than even the American Christians do…
They know homosexuality is an abomination.
Believed to mirror Target’s own belief system, their refusal to sell ‘Orange’ has prompted many- including Clancy- to cite homophobia as the real reason for not selling Ocean’s LP.
This wouldn’t be the first time Target has found itself in hot water over this issue.
Back in 2011, Pop sensation Lady GaGa revoked an exclusive version of her LP ‘Born This Way‘ originally given to the company once she caught wind of their affiliations with Emmer.

Who the **** cares, it's Target.
If you're filthy enough to shop there, then you shouldn't be listening to Frank Ocean.
There are some lovely Kidz Bop CDs I can direct you to in aisle 6

All the Targets have been closed down where I live. I could give a ****, they are TRASH.
"Why is Taylor Swift regarded as such a good role model anyway? I wouldn't want any daughter/niece of mine to grow into a girl-bashing, *****-shaming, boy-crazy, eternally-virginal damsel in distress who seems to perennially look at the world through the prism of a victim. That's not empowering. That's not even healthy." - U4EA

The iTunes exclusive thing might be a legitimate issue. A bunch of stores protested when Watch The Throne came out exclusively on iTunes first as well.
I doubt Target would do this, terrible business, and they haven't refused to sell Gay/Bi people's albums in the past?

Target is on record being a bit...shady towards homosexuals, so this doesn't surprise me a whole lot (although their reasoning seems legit).

Maybe I'm wrong, but won't they carry the album even though the exclusive deal was canceled?

Target's my favorite store. Unlike Wal-Mart they sell explicit albums.
And IDK why they'd do that when I saw Adam Lambert's albums there. And he's COMPLETELY gay.
But i'm not buying Channel Orange so I really don't care tbh.

Who cares? If you want to buy the album, go somewhere that sells it.
Y'all care way too much about the business/political side to the music industry.

They're still carrying Lambert's album so I don't think it's because he came out as bisexual.
